(MAR 31)  Ledyard, CT --For a relative newcomer, featherweight Shelito “Shelly” Vincent proved to be more than comfortable under the bright lights and high profile often chaos that follows the ESPN2 “Friday Night Fights” caravan.  Vincent, making just her second outing as a professional earned a 40-36, four round, unanimous decision over Karen Dulin on the under card of last night’s edition of the popular series at Foxwoods Resort Casino. (MAR 28)  Halquist Productions has finalized all bouts for “Battle at the Boat 86”.  The card takes place Saturday evening at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma and tickets are available by going to Ticketmaster.com or calling the casino box office at 1-888-831-7655.  Headlining the card is a ten round lightweight showdown between Fort Worth, TX’ Jose Hernandez and Kenyan Peter Oluoch. Both men fought tough competition and gave highly favored opponents all they can handle. Between Oluoch’s 9,000 mile journey to Tacoma and Hernandez’ insistence on fighting toe-to-toe, this match-up already has plenty of interest.   Full Story

(MAR 26) On Saturday, April 14, 2012, pro boxing returns to Hartford, Connecticut, at the Connecticut Convention Center as Ring Promotions, in association with Big Six Entertainment, presents "Stepping Up."  In the mainliner, the event will feature female boxers, when Hartford fan favorite Addy Irizarry will be fighting Sarah Kuhn (4-1-1 (1KO), in an eight round bout.  In an undercard bout, Bridgeport female welterweight Marva Dash will be fighting.  Opponent has not been named at this time. (MAR 25) Last night at the Gimnasio Municipal, Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico, Susana Vazquez, 110¼, won an eight-round unanimous decision over Luz Rodriguez. Rodriguez, 110, began as a pro 11 years ago. She left the sport in 2005, and returned in 2009.

Mrdjenovich's Wins by First Round TKO

(MAR 24) Last night in Edmonton, Canada, Jelena Mrdjenovich, 126,  won the vacant featherweight WBC / WIBA titles when she stopped Lindsay Garbatt, 126,  1:45 seconds in the first round.  This was a trilogy for the two, with the first two fights, Garbatt winning in one fight a majority decision and another by a split.

(MAR 24)  LINCOLN, R.I.--The old adage that a ‘win is a win’ certainly applied to Aleksandra Lopes’ in her Welterweight match up with Ashleigh Curry at the Twin River Casino Event Center in Lincoln, Rhode Island Thursday night.  Lopes collected a 40-36, 39-37, 39-37 four round unanimous decision victory over Curry in a fight that had both boxers admitted they were perplexed at their opponents respective styles. Cindy and Amanda Serrano (sisters) will be on same card!

(MAR 24) April 27, 2012, at the Cloetta Center in Linkoping, Sweden, Cindy Serrano (sister of Amanda who is fighting Frida Wallberg for a WBC title), will also be on the card,  Team Serrano told WBAN that Cindy will be fighting Mikaela Lauren in a six rounder.

American Boxing Productions: Tampa Bay Warriors Fight Series is Back!

(MAR 22) The first event had been scheduled to take place at the Tampa Convention on Friday, March 2, 2012. Fifteen minutes prior to the start of the event, the Florida State Boxing Commission was forced to pull the plug due to an unforeseen situation that left Jerry Estrada, the promoter of the event, with less than the minimum amount of bouts required for a sanctioned event in the State of Florida. While most first-time promoters would have called it a day, Jerry Estrada did the unthinkable; he paid all the fighters, in full, paid everyone involved with the show and returned all ticket monies immediately...Full Story

(MAR 19) --- A full squad of USA Boxing’s top female boxers will test their skills against elite women from north, central and south America at the 2012 Women’s Continental Championships, April 4-7, at the NAV Centre in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada. The United States will send a full squad of 10 athletes to the event with the three Olympic Trials champions joining the 2012 USA Boxing National Champions in the seven non-Olympic weight divisions. (MAR 19) It had been 17 months since I last walked down Weirfield St. in Brooklyn and I was heading for the same place, Kidz Fitness Gym. The same imposing sentinel was at the front entrance, Jordan Maldonado, surveying his domain on this unseasonably warm March morning and, as always, loaded to overflow with boxing talk, most of it right on target. In other words, very little had changed since my last trip to the Ridgewood section in the borough of churches in the city of New York. 2012 Olympic Updates naming eight Kenya Female Boxers on Team

(MARCH 7) On the Standard Media online website, they have reported that the Ministry of Sports said that they lack confidence in the men’s team picked to represent the country in the May Olympic qualifiers in Morocco. In the article they quote Sports Secretary Wilson Lagat saying that the team of 22 men excludes boxers from Armed Forces and Administration Police and therefore is not strong enough to represent the country. According to this news source, Kenya will be sending a women’s team to China next month for the Olympics qualifiers. The female are-48kg: Christine Shisoka; 52kgs: Mary Wambui; 54kgs: Ruth Odongo; 57kgs: Rebah Matanda; 60kgs: Mary Muthoni; 64kgs: Cecilia Nyaranga; 69kgs: Durry Wanjiku and 75kgs: Elizabeth Adhiambo (Nairobi).  More Details
