Press Release: WBAN Petitions
to increase weight classes in 2016 Olympics in Rio |
WBAN is sending
out a press release in regards to a WBAN Petition that we have
started on behalf of the elite female athletics (amateur
boxers), to get reconsideration by the I.O.C. to increase the
weight classes in the Olympics for female amateur boxers. At this time as it appears that
it will stand for the next Olympics, there are only three weight
divisions for females, and ten weight divisions for males. We would like to advocate
increasing weight divisions for females. The stats:
36 female boxers -
250 male boxers for the
Olympics. Weight divisions: Women: three
weight classes, flyweight, lightweight, and middleweight.
Men: Ten weight divisions: light flyweight,
flyweight, bantamweight, lightweight light welterweight,
welterweight, light heavyweight, heavyweight, and super
heavyweight.

Garbatt and Trivilino Battle to a
Draw
by Mark A. Jones
July 27, 2013 |
(JULY 27) Last night (June
26) at the Saratoga City Center in Saratoga Springs, NY,
“Lethal” Lindsay Garbatt, 125, Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, battled
fan-favorite, Jackie “The Force” Trivilino, 126, Plattsburgh,
NY, over eight hotly contested rounds at Ares Promotions Fight
Night XI.
Dispensing with her usual swarming style, Trivilino opened the
show boxing from long range keeping her physically stronger
opponent at a comfortable distance while initiating the
exchanges by firing off punches in volume. Trivilino was
successful with this tactic in the first stanza while Garbatt
mostly concentrated on keeping her defense tight while finding
her timing after nearly a year hiatus from the ring.

The African American Heritage Trail
of Martha’s Vineyard began as part of a promise to a little boy, and
in 1998 the Shearer Cottage was dedicated as the first site on the
Trail. The ambition was to reach a total of eight sites. That there
were many stories was obvious, but the depth and range of the
experiences that make up the tapestry of the African American
experience on Martha’s Vineyard was amazing. From fugitive preachers
to nationally known politicians, all the struggles and triumphs of
people of color were part of the story of this Island. The Heritage

Ava Knight: A public response

(JULY 1) Fighting the best
in the world is something that doesn't come easy for female
fighters. We have larger obstacles to get the opponents to agree
on date and times and on top of that get paid decently, which is
about less than 1% of the pay of the men. I will never doubt I am one
of the best fighters in the world right now and the best
Flyweight fighter in the world. I have taken on all challenges
