Nisa “Sweet-Destruction” Rodriguez of New York Plans to fight for a title in 2025

(DEC 31) NEW YORK CITY  – Undefeated middleweight prospect Nisa “Sweet-Destruction” Rodriguez (3-0, 1 KO), coming off her first knockout as a professional boxer, has her sights on her first title-winning performance in 2025. Rated No. 9 by the World Boxing Council (WBC), promotional free agent Rodriguez is coming off an impressive performance December 17 at Sony Hall in Times Square, on a Boxing Insider Promotions card. The 34-year-old NYPD officer, who fights out of Manhattan, was in her first scheduled six-round fight, although she stopped her opponent, Melody Popravak (2-2-1, 1 KO), in round two.  Full Story

(DEC 27) Last night at the Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria, Celina Agwu, light heavyweight from Nigeria, won by an eight-round TKO over Bolatito Oluwole, also out of Nigeria. (DEC 21) RICHMOND, VIRGINIA - Twenty-six champions were named during day five of the 2024 USA Boxing National Championships inside the Greater Richmond Convention Center in Richmond, Va. WBA Convention Focuses on Female Boxers

Nisa Rodriguez Wins by TKO over Melody Popravak

(DEC 18)  Last night at Sony Hall, in New York, Nisa Rodriguez, 165, won by a second round TKO over Melody Popravak, 162 3/4, out of Snellville, Georgia. According to a press release, Rodriguez rocked Popravak with just 30 seconds to go in round two. The bout was scheduled for six rounds. Rodriguez remains undefeated at 3-0-0 (1KO), and Popravak is now 2-3-1 (1KO).  Full fight Results

(DEC 18) The year was 1983, the venue was at the Civic Auditorium, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.    Women's Boxing was a struggle in the late 1970s and 1980s, with the difficulty of finding opponents to fight and at that time women's boxing was looked at more in the light of being a special feature on a card, and the media was not very kind many times when they wrote about females who wanted to fight in the sport. (DEC 15)  The World Boxing Association (WBA) recently celebrated an iconic figure in the sport of boxing by honoring Christy Martin, a true pioneer of women’s boxing. Two Female Bouts in Uruguay!

(DEC 3) On Saturday night at the Gimnasio Ali, in Montevideo, Uruguay, Lucia Evelyn Marrero, 125 1/4, of Montevideo, won a first round TKO over Camila Nogueria, 127 1/2.  The bout was scheduled for four rounds.  In a second female bout, Diana Roseicela Delbono Mora, 108 1/2, making her pro debut, won by a four-round unanimous decision over Elizabeth Dahiana Sellanes, 109 1/4.
