(FEB 28) In an interview with Abril
del Rio published in yesterday’s edition of La Jornada, Jackie
Nava (27) said that despite having had to postpone her voluntary
defence of the WBC interim super bantamweight title against
Yazmín Rivas, which had been scheduled to take place this Friday
in Gómez Palacio (Durango), she hopes nonetheless to be in good
enough shape to challenge Alejandra Oliveras for the absolute
title in April.
Expressing her regret for the last
minute cancellation, Nava told La Jornada: “I’ve never
had to drop out of a fight before, but the medical advice was
that I should rest. I have to respect my own health, so there
was nothing for it but to postpone.”
