(MARCH 31)  Spreading faster than a "wild fire" on the net via social media, boxing champion Billy Joe Saunders, aka "Rocks for Brains" decided to take his valuable time while being "social distancing" in making a video and posting it to demonstrate to men how to hit their ole' woman,  if they start giving them mouth that ticks them off.  Full Story

(MARCH 29)  – In our WBAN Archives, we would like to share some of our research throughout the years on the net.  We bring you back to 1978 when female boxers fought for their rights to fight in a sanctioned amateur bout.  No, there were no TV crews from all over the world, national TV, and very little local coverage considering that on May 12, 1978, was the First sanctioned amateurs women's bout as where WBAN was able to document this occurrence in 1978.   Full Story

ESPN:  Keeping track of cancellations, postponements in boxing due to the coronavirus pandemic

(MAR 28) Since the coronavirus became a pandemic, it has caused the sports world, including boxing, to shut down in recent weeks. Promoters around the world have been forced to cancel or postpone more than 60 cards -- hundreds of bouts -- between March and May, some with no choice because local governments shut down all non-essential business. (MAR 25) With the world currently focused on fighting the Coronavirus pandemic, Salita Promotions has made the decision to postpone and reschedule the Claressa Shields vs Marie-Eve Dicaire Undisputed World Championship fight, originally slated for May 9 at the Dort Federal Credit Union Event Center in Flint, Mich., and live on SHOWTIME.  Salita Promotions will continue to monitor the circumstances closely and work diligently with Dort Federal Credit Union Event Center, Showtime and state officials to announce a new date as soon as conditions are favorable.  Full Story

(MAR 16) On Saturday, March 14, 2020, at the Campismo Casa del Mar, Tolu, Colombia, Flyweight Olga Julio, 113, now, 32-18-2 (22KO) of Barranquilla, Colombia,  won a six-round unanimous decision over Maria Zavala, 114, also of Colombia, Zavala remains winless at 0-8-0.   Final judges scores were 60-54, 60-54, and 59-55.  Really, matching up with a winless boxer of 0-7?

Results from Fiji - Inise Kaunimara Wins her first pro bout by a Split decision over Singh

(MAR 16) On Saturday night, at the FMF Dome, in Suva, Fiji,  middleweight of Fiji, Inise Kaunimara, 154, won a four-round split decision over Katerina Faleao Singh, 151, of Lautoka, Fiji. Kaunimara moved her record to 1-1-0 (0KO), and Singh fell to 3-3-1 (0KO).   This was Kaunimara's first win as a pro boxer.

(MAR 9) Zulina ‘Loba’ Muñoz is the new WBC  international bantamweight champion having defeated Valeria Perez with a second round TKO win in the main event of the “Explosion of Talent” fight card on March 8, 2020.  Munoz, (51-3-2, 29KO) got off to a quick start with sharp left hooks that set an aggressive pace to the fight. (MAR 8) Tonight at the Deportivo Leandro Valle, Iztacalco, Distrito Federal, Mexico, Zulina "La Lobo" Muñoz, 51-3-2 (29 KO), of Mexico City, Mexico, will be fighting Valeria "La Pequena" Perez, 12-7-0 (2KO), of Nopalltepec, Mexico.  The two will be vying for the WBC International Bantamweight Title. Yesterday at the weigh-in (video included), Muñoz weighed in at 118 pounds, and Perez, 118. Full Story

(MARCH 4) On February 29, 2020, at the St. Petersburg Marriott Clearwater, in Saint Petersburg, Florida, Laura "Lady Ram" Ramsey, 256¾,  fought Gwendolyn O'Neil,  240¼, winning by a fourth round TKO in a scheduled six round bout, and winning the ABO Heavyweight Title. Full Story

(MAR 4)  Extraordinary AIBA Congress, scheduled in Budapest on March, is postponed for 3-month period because of Coronavirus outbreak. AIBA Executive Committee took this decision by e-mail vote due to the force majeure.
