(MAR 2) In what is exciting
for Oregonians and boxing fans in general, there is an upcoming
boxing card featuring a female boxing world title bout.
The last world title fight that
took place in Oregon, took place in June of 2006, at the Seven
Feathers Casino Resorts, in Canyonville. In that bout,
Kelsey Jeffries fought Melissa Hernandez for the IFBA
Featherweight World title, where the bout ended in a draw for
the two.
Since, 2006, we will see
another world title bout with Layla "Amazing" McCarter fighting
Yamilla Reynoso in a ten-round bout for the GBU/WIBF World
titles.
This is a history-making event in the state of Oregon that has
for the first time a female world title bout where they are
vying for two world title belts.
Also, in few states, they allow female boxers to fight
three-minute rounds, and in this bout it will not be two-minute
rounds, but three!
In Oregon, they have the option to fight either two-minute
rounds, and/or three-minute rounds.
With March being the Women's History month - it is a perfect
time to have this event feature these two boxers in the
mainliner.
Also as special guests,
International Women's Boxing Hall of Famer Christy "The Coal
Miner's Daughter" Martin and Lisa Holewyne will be at the event
as special Guests!
WBAN will be there to cover this event!
