Last Night Yamileth Mercado Successfully defended her WBC title over Ramla Ali

(JUNE 30) Last night at the Footprint Center, in Phoenix, Arizona, Yamileth Mercado, of Mexico, 121 lbs.,  won a ten-round unanimous decision over Ramla Ali, 122 lbs., of Greenwich, London, UK.  The two were fighting for the WBC World Super Bantamweight title....Full Story

Nisa Rodriguez,  New York City police officer and celebrated amateur boxer, Nisa Rodriguez has been added to our “Women Cops Who Box” at our Pre-celebration on April 4, 2025! The following night at the “Night of the Stars 2”, at the finale, we will then be inducting our 2025 International Women's Boxing Hall of Fame Inductees on April 5, 2025. We now have ten Women Cops Who Box who are our Special Award Recipients. The event takes place at the Orleans Hotel & Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada.  More to follow soon. ....Full Story

Florida Boxing Hall of Fame Honors Stacy Prestage at Induction Weekend

(JUNE 26) The Florida Boxing Hall of Fame (FBHOF) had their Induction Weekend from June 21-23 at the Hilton Hotel in St. Petersburg, Florida in Carillon Park. The FBHOF is one of the most prestigious Halls of Fame for boxing in the United States. Stacy Prestage was the only female boxer on the list of inductees.  (JUNE 25) There is a little bit of history that has not been discussed much that occurred in the 1970's to early 1980's, and it is not about a female boxer or boxers----it is about a past photographer that captured women's boxing in the 1970s-1980s when few cared about covering the sport.  His name is Alastair Segerdal (he passed away in the early 2000's) . (JUNE 24) Last night at the Club de Boxeo Atila, Florida, Ana Reyes, 140 1/2, 22 years old,  from Colombia, won by a [1:42] third round TKO over Angeli Fuentes, 142 3/4, from Venezuela, 20 years old in a scheduled six-round bout. Emma Dolan Wins by a Split Decision over Shannon Ryan

(JUNE 23)  Last night at the  Resorts World Arena, in Birmingham, United Kingdom, Emma Dolan, 114 1/2, of Newark Nottinghamshire, won a ten-round split decision over Shannon Ryan, 113 1/2, of Watford, Hertfordshire, UK.  The two were fighting for the BBBofC British Super Flyweight belt, and the Commonwealth Boxing Council..For full fight results

Geovana Peres makes history in second New Zealand National Muay Thai title win

(JUNE 22) Geovana Peres made history in Tauranga on Saturday night, winning her second Muay Thai professional title against Hometown favourite Faith Mcmah and becoming the first-ever WBC Muay Thai Heavyweight female champion. The two had fought before back in November 2022, where Peres won the fight by split decision, winning the WMC New Zealand national Heavyweight title. McMah's camp called the controversy over the result and wanted to see the fight happen again.  Full Story

Tonight in Italy:  Veronica Tori vs.  Natalia Francesca

(JUNE 21)  Tonight at the PalaElachem, Vigevano, in Italy, Veronica Tori, of Vigevano, with a 6-2-0 (3KO) record,  will be fighting Natalia Francesca, 6-3-0, of Cataluña, Spain will be fighting a ten-round bout, for the vacant, EBU European Bantamweight title. Tosi's last fight took place in December of 2023, winning by decision and Francesca in March of 2024, winning an eight-round decision.

The City of Raton honored two-time Women’s World Boxing Champion Terri “Lil Loca” Cruz

(JUNE 19) On Tuesday, June 4th, the City of Raton honored two-time Women’s World Boxing Champion Terri “Lil Loca” Cruz. Citizens, family, and friends from Cruz’s hometown attended the event. Cruz retired in 2011 with a professional boxing record of 17-7-2. With 26 fights and 130 rounds to her resume, Cruz’s fought in Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, South Dakota, Nevada, Arizona, South Korea (on two occasions), Australia, and Germany. Full Story

(JUNE 14) Tonight at the Bolton Whites Hotel (De Vere Whites), Bolton, Flyweights Chloe Watson of Birkenhead United Kingdom, won a six-round bout by points over Kate Radomska from Waterford, Ireland. The huge women's boxing title fights that await in the second half of 2024

Women's boxing has seen several title fights play out in the opening half of the year but the biggest and most exciting bouts have been saved for the latter stages of the year. Natasha Jones beat Mikaela Mayor in the opening title fight of the year to retain her IBF belt and there was a similar theme in the WBO welterweight title fight in March as Sandy Ryan maintained her world champion status against Terri Harper.  Full Story

Female boxing match that makes little sense

 (JUNE 10) This last weekend on June 8th, at the Complexe Sportif Alain Mallon, in Neuilly en Thelle, Fanny Galle, 146 1/2,  1-0-0 was matched up with Ksenija Medic,148 1/4,  3-31-2 record.   Galle won the bout by a four-round unanimous decision, 36-40 on all cards. My name is Kyana Williams, but everyone calls me “Special Kay”.  I was born in Lowell, Massachusetts but describe myself as a product of Providence.  I moved to Rhode Island,  at the age of two with my parents and brother, and  have been a product of my environment ever since.  People always ask,  “why Special Kay”? (JUNE 3) NEW YORK CITY – New York City police officer and celebrated amateur boxer, Nisa Rodriguez (1-0, 0 KOs), is excited to be boxing on National Puerto Rican Day this Saturday at home in Madison Square Garden Theater.  Rodriguez, 33, faces Jordanne Garcia (4-3, 3 KOs), of Albuquerque (NM), in a four-round bout on a Top Rank card, headlined by Xander Zayas vs. Patrick Teixera, and Nisa’s fight will be streamed live on ESPN2.  Full Story

Denmark's Dina Thorslund Named WBAN's June 2024 Fighter of the Month

 (JUNE 2) WBAN would like to congratulate Denmark's Dina Thorslund as WBAN's June 2024 Fighter of the month.  She just had a world title fight, defending her WBC and WBO World title belts.  She won easily in her fight with Seren Cetin.  This is the second time she has been our Fighter of the month, first time in April of 2018.
