Kuhn bests Woods at Fight Night X

(APR 26)  In a welterweight crossroads matchup, Sarah Kuhn, 145, Albany, moved to (6-3-1, 1 KO) with a split-decision victory over Nicole Woods (11-12-2, 3 KOs) 145, Atlanta, over a hard-fought six-round battle at the Empire State Plaza, in Albany, New York. Sarah Kuhn, during her nearly three years as a professional boxer, has transformed herself from a straight-line lead puncher to a boxer /puncher with the ability to fight from different ranges. Against the experienced Nicole Woods, a long-range stylist, Kuhn’s versatility was on display as she reverted to old form aggressively moving forward behind a stiff left jab that landed more than it missed. It was evident from the early stages of the fight that Nicole Woods had difficulties fighting while forced to move backwards by Kuhn’s effective aggression. ..Full Story

USA Boxing Holds a Mega Training Camp for the Junior and Elite Champions at the Olympic Training Center

(APR 22) USA Boxing is holding its first multi-divisional training camp for both male and female boxers at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. The elite male athletes arrived last week while all the junior boxers and elite females landing in the Pikes Peak region on Sunday. Thirty-nine athletes are participating in the major training camp under the tutelage of USA Boxing International Teaching Coach Pedro Roque and seven personal coaches assisting him in Colorado Springs. Following the camp, the different age and gender groups will travel to a variety of international competitions.  Full Story

"Hot Stuff" Hollie Dunaway First Female Inducted into the St. Louis Boxing Hall of Fame!

(APR 21) "Hot Stuff" Hollie Dunaway will be the first female inducted into the St Louis Boxing Hall of Fame. After getting her start over 10 years ago in the professional ranks, she has fought some of the best opposition In the sport, winning multiple titles. Just in: Braekhus Wins by Third Round TKO

 (APR 13) Today in at the  Arena Nord, in Frederikshavn, Denmark, Cecilia Braekhus, 144.6,  remained undefeated, with 22-0-0, when she stopped Mia "The Knockout" St. John, 140.2, now  47-13-2 (18KO),  in the third round by TKO. The fight was scheduled for 10 rounds.  Braekhus was defending her WBA, WBO, and WBC welterweight titles.

Diana Prazak to fight Frida Wallberg June 14th for WBC/WIBA and WBAN Belt!

(APR 12) Australian world champion super featherweight Diana Prazak will make her second attempt to unify the division when she faces Swedish champion Frida Wallberg on June 14.  Prazak was scheduled to fight Wallberg in November but the fight was cancelled at late notice due to the Swede being injured. Prazak was matched against Victoria Cisneros on the Fire and Ice undercard in December last year in New Mexico but again, injuries changed the course of her career. Myriam Lamare was to fight Holly Holm in the main event but also withdrew hurt. So Prazak stepped up to fight the Preacher’s Daughter herself....Full Story

Boxing: €1,000,000 funding for Irish Women's and Youth Boxing

(APR 11) A big boost for boxing in Ireland following the announcement on Wednesday, by Minister of State for Tourism & Sport, Mr Michael Ring, of an allocation of €1 million (approx $ 1,306,165) in funding for boxing clubs, with particular emphasis on upgrading training facilities, particularly for women and youths.  As in other countries including neighbouring Great Britain, there has been a huge upsurge of interest in women’s boxing in Ireland since London 2012 staged the XXX Olympiad which showcased the women’s sport, officially, for the first time. ...Full Story

(SPOKANE, WASH.) – Just over six months after the Olympic debut of women’s boxing, the elite women’s division claimed the spotlight on the fourth day of competition at the 2013 USA Boxing National Championships in Spokane, Wash. With only three weight divisions being contested in Olympic action in London, several of the United States’ top female athletes were forced to move to different weight divisions following the Olympic Team Trials and many of them enjoyed success in their new weight divisions. (APRIL 4) Recently Melissa McMorrow just defended her two world titles in Germany and successfully defeated Nadia Raoui in that defense.  She is now in Mozambique, in Southeast Africa! Blanca Gutierrez of BabyFace Beautiful Brawlers said, "Melissa Mc Morrow, B Street Boxing, San Mateo has been in Mozambique and has gone a tour of four boxing gyms . She has met with the Federal Boxing Commission and has completed a project with an orphanage outside of Maputo. Among those in early action Wednesday were Tiara Brown, Queen Underwood, and AIBA world no.1 64kg Mikaela Mayer, who has entered the Lightweight 132lbs division this year.  With those experienced Internationals together with N’yteeyah Sherman in the Championships the Lightweight division will undoubtedly prove to be one of the most competitive of all divisions in Spokane....Full Story
