Maricela "La Diva" Cornejo, is a professional middleweight boxer, is also a reigning Boxing Illustrated Middleweight Champion. The 5'10" Cornejo grew up in Grandview, Washington,  and in addition ot boxing, she excelled as an athletic in volleyball, basketball, as well as pitching for her fast pitch high school team.  When she is not in the ring, she is a television and movie actress and spokes model.

When Maricela graduated from high school, she went off to play volleyball at a nearby Community College before moving to Seattle, Washington. She was only in Seattle for two years then ventured off to pursue her dreams in Los Angeles, California.   When Maricela arrived in LA, not knowing anyone, found her networking skills helped her through  certain situations.

During Maricela's two year stay in Los Angeles, she was able to accomplish getting in a handful background movies and Spanish soap opera appearances, including her first speaking role which Eric Roberts in the comedy movie "White T".

In 2012 Maricela set her one goal, and that was to fight in one amateur bout.  She then trained for a year before moving  to Las Vegas, Nevada,  to fight in her first bout.

Undefeated as an amateur, 2-0 both first rounders, Cornejo won a gold medal at The Arnold in 2012 for the middleweight title in a walkover victory.  After the two amateur fights, she found great difficulty finding any more amateur competition in the middleweight division. With that, Maricela made a decision  to turn professional.

On August 4, 2012, Maricela fought Mia Henderson at the Cobb Center in Atlanta, Georgia, won by a four-round majority decision.   The hard fought victory resulted in Cornejo winning the Boxing Illustrated Novice Middleweight Championship. [The BI Novice Championships are for fighters with zero to five fights]. 

On November 17, 2012, In Maricela's second pro bout, she faced Terri Love at the Four Points Sheridan, in Sacramento, California.  She won by a third round TKO, bringing her boxing record to 2-0-0 (1KO). 

On March 18, 2013 on Sunday Night Spotlight, Maricela was interviewed, where she talked about her journey from modeling, to the Wild Card gym, to the Mayweather Boxing Club. 

On October 7, 2016, at the Belasco Theater, in Los Angeles, California,
Cornejo, 166.6, of California, won a six-round unanimous decision over Eliza "Bo Bo" Olson, 167, of San Bruno, California, Final judges scores were 59-55, 59-55, and 58-56.

On December 17, 2016, at the Gran Oasis Arena, in Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico, there are two female bouts featured on the card. In one bout, Mariana "La Barby" Juárez, 117.5, won by a 10-round majority decision over Irma Garcia, 118, the two were fighting for the WBC International Bantamweight title; and in a second bout, Cornejo, 167, won by a six-round unanimous decision over Martha Lara, 165 1/4.  Final judges scores were 59-55, 58-56, and 58-56.

On April 9, 2017, at The Novo at L.A. Live, Los Angeles, California,
Cornejo, 164½, won a six-round unanimous decision over Sydney LeBlanc, 162. Final judges scores were 59-55, 60-54, and 60-54.

On August 12, 2017, at the Arena Oasis, in Cancun, Mexico, Alejandra Jimenez, 236½, won by a third round TKO over Vanessa Joanisse, 231. Jimenez was defending her WBC Heavyweight title. In a second female bout super middleweight Cornejo, 167½,  won a six-rounder on points over Vanessa Rodriguez, 167½. Final judges scores were 60-54 on all cards.

On March 9, 2018, at the Hangar, in Costa Mesa, California, Cornejo, 160.5, won by a fourth round TKO over Lisa Garland, 160.5.

On July 13, 2018, at the Novo at L.A. Live, Los Angeles, California,
In two female bouts on the card Seniesa Estrada, 108¾, won by a 0:20 seconds, third KO over Jhosep Vizcaino, 108¼, in a scheduled eight round bout; and Maricela Cornejo, 164¼, won by a third round KO [0:41] over Samantha Pill, 164.

On September 13, 2018, at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada, Franchon Crews-Dezurn, 167¼, won a ten-round majority decision over Cornejo, 166¾.  The two were fighting for the vacant WBC Super Middleweight title.  Final judges scores were 91-99, 95-95, and 91-99.

On January 27, 2019, at the The Avalon, in Hollywood, California, In the main event, super middleweight Maricela Cornejo, 158, won an eight-round unanimous decision over Erin Toughill, 158¾ (according to the three judges scoring the bout 79-73, 79-73, and 78-74.) .Full Story

On September 14, 2019, at the Dignity Health Sports Park , Carson, California,  super middleweight Franchon Crews Dezurn, 167.5, won a ten-round unanimous decision over  Cornejo, 166¾. The two fought for the WBC and vacant WBO Super middleweight world titles.

On March 18, 2021, at the Albergue Olimpico, in Salinas, Puerto Rico, middleweight Alma Ibarra, 156, won an eight-round unanimous decision over Cornejo, 158 1/4.

On September 25, 2021, at the Sports Arena, in Pico Rivera, California,  Cornejo, 160, won a six-round unanimous decision over Miranda Barber, 159.

On March 25, 2022, at the Camara Ganadera de San Carlos, in Alajuela, Costa Rica, Cornejo, 160, won an eight-round unanimous decision over Simone Aparecida da Silva, 158. Final judges scores were 80-72, on all cards.

On March 25, 2023, at the  Club y Hotel Condovac La Costa, in Costa Rica, Cornejo defeated a  a 0-1-0 boxer Sheila Cunha [0:44], in a scheduled eight round bout.

On February 2, 2024, at the Caribe Royale Orlando,in  Orlando, Florida,  Cornejo, 146 1/5, won an eight-round unanimous decision over Kandi Wyatt, 146 3/4.

Cornego's boxing record is 18-6-0 (7KO), as of April 10, 2024.
