Katie Taylor, 134¼, won a ten-round unanimous decision over Victoria Bustos,
134¼. The two were fighting for the unification bout of the IBF and WBA Lightweight titles.
According to the Independent.ie, (a source from the Matchroom
Organizations) the fight was in jeopardy of not happening when
Bustos had a cold sore on her mouth. The Doctors were
concerned that it could be infectious. All was well and she was
cleared. Taylor became the unified lightweight champion of the world
with a convincing points win over a Bustos. Final judges scores were
99-91, 99-91, 98-92, with Bustos surrendering her IBF belt that she
held for five years.
