APRIL 2018

April 28, 2018 - Barclays Center, Brooklyn, New York, USA
Katie Taylor, 134¼, won a ten-round unanimous decision over Victoria Bustos, 134¼. The two were fighting for the unification bout of the IBF and WBA Lightweight titles. According to the Independent.ie, (a source from the Matchroom Organizations) the fight was in jeopardy of not happening when Bustos had a cold sore on her mouth.  The Doctors were concerned that it could be infectious. All was well and she was cleared. Taylor became the unified lightweight champion of the world with a convincing points win over a Bustos. Final judges scores were 99-91, 99-91, 98-92, with Bustos surrendering her IBF belt that she held for five years. Full fight Video

April 28, 2018 - Casino Hipodromo Agua Caliente, Tijuana, Mexico
Strawweight Amaris Quintana, of San Diego, California, now 10-3-2 (2KO), won over Carol Castro Madrid (more details needed).

April 28, 2018 - Shaw Conference Centre, Edmonton, Canada
In front of a sold-out crowd, Jelena Mrdjenovich, 126, had her 50th professional bout, winning by a unanimous decision against Stephanie Ducastel, 125.5, of France. Mrdjenovich retained her WBC featherweight world title.  This was a rematch for the two, when they first time fought on July 1, 2017, the two fought to a draw.

Super flyweight Maria Rivera, 114¾, won a ten-round majority decision over Vanesa Taborda, 115.  The two were fighting for the vacant Argentina Super Flyweight title.  Final judges scores were 99-94½, 97½-97½, and  99-96.  In a second female bout, super welterweight Abril Vidal, 152¾, pro debut, won a four-round unanimous decision over Alejandra Juarez, 150.

April 28, 2018 - La Feria, Puebla, Puebla, Mexico
On Saturday night at Miguel Hidalgo Gymnasium in Puebla, Mexico, bantamweight Mariana Juarez, 117¾, of Mexico City, Mexico, won a ten-round unanimous decision over Carolina Arias, 118, from Escazu, Costa Rica.  The two were fighting for the WBC Bantamweight title. Juarez retained her WBC world title belt for the fourth time defending her title.  The boxing event was promoted by Promociones del Pueblo with the support of Cavall Sport and Playboy México, televised on Televisa Deportes.  Full Story  Full Fight Video

Bantamweight Violeta Gonzalez, 117¾, won by a third round TKO over Lenka Kardova.  The bout was scheduled for eight rounds.

Featherweight Melisa Dozo, won a four-round majority decision over Marisa Portillo. Final judges scores were 39-39, 40-37½, and 39-37.

Daniela "La Leona" Asenjo, 113, won a six-round unanimous decision over Virginia Carcamo, 112.5.

Super featherweight Alycia Baumgardner, 131.5, of Fremont, Ohio,  won a six-round split decision over Kirstie Simmons, of Aurora, Colorado.  Final judges scores of 59-55, 56-58, and 58-56.

Super lightweight Silvia Bortot, won a six-round bout by points over Milena Svonja.

Heather "The Heat" Hardy, 126.2, now 21-0 (4KO), of Brooklyn, fought and won an eight-round unanimous decision over Paola "La Fiera" Torres, 126.8, 12-3-1 (5KO), of Monterrey, Mexico. The female bout was untelevised. The Premier Boxing Champions event was headlined by Adrien Broner who fought battled Jessie Vargas to a 12-round bout majority draw that was televised live on Showtime. Natasha Jonas, 129.5 won by a seventh round TKO over Taoussy L'Hadji, 128¼. The bout was scheduled for ten rounds, and they were fighting for the vacant WBA International Super Featherweight title.  Full Fight Video

Lightweight Rose Volante won a six round TKO over Lourdes Borbua.  The bout was scheduled for ten rounds.  The two were fighting for the WBO Lightweight title, but Borbua failed to make weight at 132 lbs. In a second bout, bantamweight Danila Ramos won a six-round bout by points.

Lightweight Karen Elizabeth Carabajal, 134.5, won a six-round unanimous decision over Maria Capriolo, 135.  Final judges scores were 58-55, 59-55½, and 59-55½.  In a second female bout, super bantamweight Maria Berrios won a four-round unanimous decision over Elizabeth Britos.  Final judges scores were 40-35, 40-35½, and 40-35½.

Ewa Brodnicka, 129¾, of Warsaw, Poland, won a ten-round unanimous decision over Sarah Pucek, 128¾, of Fort Langley, British Columbia, Canada.  Final judges scores 90-100, 91-99, and 93-97.  The two were fighting for the vacant NABF Super Featherweight title.

Super welterweight Mikaela Lauren, 152, won a ten-round majority decision over Verena Kaiser, 147.  The two were fighting for the vacant IBO super welterweight title.  Scores: 95-95, 96-94, 97-93.

Super lightweight Anahi Esther Sanchez, 138.5, won by a first round KO over Diana Ayala, 138.5.  The bout was scheduled for ten rounds and were fighting for the vacant WBA Super Lightweight title.

April 20, 2018 - The Danforth Music Hall, Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Super flyweight Shelly Barnett, of Evanston, Illinois, now 3-0-1 (0KO),  and Guadalupe Rodriguez, of Aguascalientes, Mexico, now 3-1-1,  had a six-round split draw.  Final judges scores were 58-56, 55-59, and 57-57.

April 20, 2018 - Gymnase Royallieu, Compiègne, Oise, France
Super lightweight Marie Meron, of Oise, France, won an eight-round unanimous decision over Bilitis Gaucher.  Final judges scores were 77-74, 78-73, and 78-73.

April 19, 2018 - Fantastic Casino de Albrook Mall, Panama City, Panama
Super bantamweight Karla Mendoza, 124.5, had a four-rounder draw by points with Teresa Almengor, both making their pro debuts.  In a second female bout, super bantamweight Laura Ledezma, 123¼, won by a second round TKO [0:34] over Glenis Cardona, 122.5. The bout was schedule for eight rounds.

In an eight round bout [47kg] former WBC Minimumweight Champion Yuko Kuroki, 103¼,  of Fukuoka, Japan, won an eight round bout by a unanimous decision, now 18-5-1 (8KO),  over former OPBF Atomweight champion Momoko Kanda, 103, from Osaka, Japan, 10-10-2 (4KO). The final judges scores were 79-73, 79-74, and 78-75.  In the second female bout on the card, in a battle of the super bantamweights, Akane Fujiwara, 121¾, of Chiba, Japan won by a close majority decision against Michiko Abiru, 120, of Saga, Japan, who was making her pro debut.  The final judges scores on this bout was 38-38, 39-37 and 39-37.  Fujiwara now 1-1-0 (0KO), Abiru is 0-1-0.  In the third bout, in a scheduled four-rounder in the featherweight division, Yoshi Wakasa, 125½, of Hokkaido, Japan, 125½,  won by a unanimous decision over Rimin Shimano, 126, of Osaka, Japan.

In a second female bout Brenda Carabajal, 128, won a six round split decision over Gloria Yancaqueo, 126.5.

Eva Wahlstrom,  128¾, won a ten-round majority decision over Melissa St. Vil,  129½.  Wahlstrom was defending her WBC Super Featherweight World title for the fourth time.  Final judges scores were 95-95, 97-93, and 96-94.

April 6, 2018 - Estadio José María Gatica, Villa Dominico, Buenos Aires, Argentina
Light flyweight Yesica Bopp, 107¼, won by a six-round TKO over Soledad del Valle Frias, 107¾.  The two were fighting for the WBA Light Flyweight were Bopp was defending her title.  According to Boxrec, the referree stopped the bout after considering lack of response by Frías. 

April 2, 2018 - Bredene, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium
