Mexico:  Mariana "Barbie" Juarez Wins by Decision and Successfully Defends her WBC World title Belt!
by Sue TL Fox
April 30, 2018

(APR 30)   On Saturday night at Miguel Hidalgo Gymnasium in Puebla, Mexico, bantamweight Mariana Juarez, 117¾, of Mexico City, Mexico, won a ten-round unanimous decision over Carolina Arias, 118, from Escazu, Costa Rica.  The two were fighting for the WBC Bantamweight title. Juarez retained her WBC world title belt for the fourth time defending her title.  The boxing event was promoted by Promociones del Pueblo with the support of Cavall Sport and Playboy México, televised on Televisa Deportes.

Juarez won the WBC Bantamweight world title belt on April 1, 2017, when she defeated Catherine Phiri by a ten-round unanimous decision.  She then went on to defend her belt on July 8, 2017, against Terumi Nuki, again winning by a unanimous decision.

Then on November 11, 2017, Juarez returned to the ring to fight and defend her WBC title against Alesia Graf, making it a short night of that fight when she won by a TKO over Graf.

In 2018, she fought Gabriela Bouvier on February 17, 2018, where she won by a unanimous decision.
