Vicki “Hurricane” Woods, born on February 21, 1963, and passed away in 2019, resided and trained in Chattanooga, Tennessee was one of the premier boxers on the women’s circuit.   She fought professionally from 1997 to 2001.  She fought some of the best female boxers in the sport, besides Tracy Byrd, she fought Lisa Holewyne, Denise Moraetes, Jeanne Martinez, Sabrina Hall, Sumya Anani and more.  Final Tribute to Woods Story.

Vicki never was one to run from a challenge opened her professional career against upcoming and future lightweight champion Tracy Byrd in Tracy’s hometown of Flint, Michigan in March of 1997. Vicki continued to challenge herself winning six of her next seven fights.

In March of 1999 Vicki’s desire and hard work helped her fulfill her ultimate goal: a title fight. Fighting for the Intercontinental Lightweight Championship: Vicki lost a tough 10 round decision to Tracy Byrd.

Vicki continued her training regimen with the help of Jack Godwin and Dan Martin. Vicki takes her training seriously and spars regularly with #1 ranked welterweight Mitzi Jeter. Vicki is married with two sons Adam and Holden.
