 Last night at the Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan, there was a Japan Female Bantamweight title bout on the card between Miyo Yoshida vs. Tomomi Takano.  Yoshida won a six-round unanimous decision over Tomomi Takano.  Final judges scores were 58-57 on all three judges’ scorecards.  This was a very first Japan’s female title bout under sanctions from the Japan Boxing Commission (JBC).  Full Story

(OCT 6)  I grew up, in a long gone era, when boxing in New York City competed for primacy in the hearts of sports fans with baseball, college basketball and horse racing.. Madison Square Garden, located on 8th Avenue between 49th and 50th Streets, was, emphatically, the mecca of boxing, not only in the city, but throughout the country and, probably, the world. But it was the strong foundation of neighborhood clubs throughout the five boroughs that fueled the popularity of the sport. St. Nicks Arena in Manhattan, Eastern Parkway Arena in Brooklyn and Sunnyside Garden in Queens made up the "big three". In addition to numerous clubs throughout the city, active venues extended as far north as White Plains where the Westchester County Center hosted frequent cards. (OCT 6) Alrie Meleisea will be defending her New Zealand National (NZPBA Version) heavyweight title against Mandatory challenger, Sarah Long on November 11th at ABA Stadium.  Sarah Long (2 - 2 - 0 boxing/ 5 - 4 - 0 kickboxing) was made mandatory challenger back in August this year. The bout was originally going to take place in October under S.A.L.T promotions (Long’s Management), however due to other commitments the show was postponed. (OCT 1)  Last night at the Arena Oasis, Cancun, Mexico  Arely Mucino, 1135, won a ten-round unanimous decision over  Tenkai Tsunami, 113.5.  Final judges scores were 97-93, 97-93, and 97-95.  In a second female bout on the card flyweight Guadalupe Bautista won an eight-round majority decision over Yesenia Gomez, The final judges scores were 75-75, 78-74, and 77-75.
