(OCT 23)  Flyweight Virginia Fuchs (Kemah, Texas) capped off her already impressive 2017 season with her fourth international gold at the 2017 Balkan Tournament in Sophia, Bulgaria.

Fuchs, who finishes the year 16-0 in international tournaments, once again faced Brazilian Grazieli Jesus de Sousa and took the judges card for another unanimous decision victory. The win closes out a dominating year for the American, which has included gold medals at the Felix Stamm Tournament, Strandja Tournament and Continental Championships.

Fuchs will close out her 2017 season at the 2017 USA Boxing Elite National Championships in Salt Lake City, Utah this upcoming December. She will return to Colorado Springs, Colo. to the Olympic Training Center to begin her preparation for those championships. Team USA was led by Head Coach Billy Walsh (Colorado Springs, Colo.) during the tournament. Teammate Rashida Ellis (Lynn, Mass.) was the other American to box in the tournament, but fell short during the opening round.
