Eder Jofre donates his brain to Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy studies

(NOV 30) SAO PAULO, BRAZIL.– Eder Jofre, who died October 2, 2022, chose to donate his brain to studies on Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), a pathology formerly known as dementia pugilistica. The decision was honored by his family, who announced the donation at a press conference held on Thursday October, 20th at the office of neurologist, Dr. Renato Anghinah, who managed Jofre’s treatment.  Full Story

(NOV 27) Last night at the  Gimnasio Club Mexico, Santiago de Chile, Vicky Quevedo, 136¾, of Santiago de Chile, Chile, brought her boxing records up to 3-0-0 (1KO), by winning a six-round unanimous decision over Maria Angelica Ruiz, 138¾, now 5-17-1 (0KO), of Concordia, Argentina. (NOV 20) LA NUCIA, Spain  -- Team USA saw three boxers advance to the quarterfinal rounds of their respective brackets in La Nucia, Spain during today’s sixth day of boxing at the 2022 Youth World Championships.  Featherweight Yoseline Perez (Houston, Texas) picked up her second win by RSC in these championships to advance to the quarterfinal round of her bracket. Perez got off to a strong start in the first round, which saw her give her opponent, Hyeji Park of Korea, a standing eight count in the final seconds of the round. All five judges scored it in favor of the American, with four judges scoring the round 10-8.  Full Story

(NOV 18) South African Cruiserweight champion Razel Mohammed has taken to social media to call out the Number one ranked heavyweight female boxer, Lani Daniels (Ngāti Hine, Ngāpuhi, Te Orewai).  Razel Mohammed, currently ranked 4th on IBO, won her South African national title in March this year. (NOV 16) LA NUCIA, Spain – The second day of boxing at the 2022 Youth World Championships in La Nucia, Spain saw two more Americans pick up RSC decision victories to advance in the tournament.  Featherweight Cornellio Phipps (Oxford, Pa.) continued Team USA’s strong start during the day’s first session of boxing. Phipps came out fast and strong, landing multiple combinations and power shots to his opponent, Sebastian Gutierrez of Bolivia, resulting in all five judges scoring the round 10-8.  Full Story

Geovana Peres wins first Muay Thai title

(NOV 6) Former WBO World Light Heavyweight champion Geovana Peres has won her third Muay Thai fight, winning the WMC New Zealand Heavyweight title against Faith McMah by a split decision.The Brazilian-born New Zealand citizen Geovana Peres retired from boxing as a world champion in 2021 and has now jumped sport to the world of Kickboxing and Muay Thai.
