Big Fight on the Horizon: Jessica McCaskill vs. Cecilia Braekhus for unification world title bout with Five Belts on the line

(JUNE 30) There was big news yesterday in women’s boxing when it was announced that Jessica “CasKILLA” McCaskill, of Chicago, Illinois,  will be facing Cecilia “First Lady” Braekhus, Bergen, Norway,  on August 15, 2020, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Braekhus will be defending her WBC, WBA, IBF, IBO, and WBF Welterweight titles.   McCaskill will be moving up in weight class to take on Braekhus.  Full Story

10 Events Series From the UK Begins July 18th Live and Exclusive on Fite TV

(JUNE 23) With a distinct lack of live boxing events, due to the global COVID-19 Pandemic, the British & Irish Boxing Authority (BIBA) today announced a series of Ten Professional Boxing Events under the ‘Let Battle Commence’ banner, which will be broadcast live and exclusive on FITE TV starting on the 18th July 2020.  Initially the events, promoted by Six Time and Five Division World Champion Lee McAllister, will take place behind closed doors at the Northern Hotel in Aberdeen. Each of the first three events is restricted to five contests and a maximum of six rounds per contest in order to comply with the United Kingdom Government’s Guidelines.  Full Story

(JUNE 17) DAYTONA BEACH, FL- Christy Martin Promotions in association with Payne Boxing Management announces an evening of professional boxing July 18 at the Ocean Center, and shown live on PPV by QC Broadcasting. “I'm excited to bring a huge, action packed card to Daytona,” Christy said. “We've got local fighters ready to get back out there and put on a show. Our main event has Alberto Palmetta, who's 13-1 and is coming off of a win on Showtime. Covid 19 has given us some challenges, but I'm determined to get things moving in boxing, and Daytona Beach on July 18 is the first step we're taking.”  Full Story

(JUNE 9) Finally Live Boxing returns to TV screens, following the seemingly never ending lockdown. No surprise that America has led the way, with the current World Boxing Organization (WBO) Featherweight World Champion Shakur Stevenson against Felix Caraballo in a non-championship contest, which takes place today in Las Vegas, and beginning next month the United Kingdom will follow suit.  Full Story

Kellie Harrington strikes Gold for Ireland in European Shadow Boxing Championships

(JUNE 8) Great news for Irish boxing fans today with the announcement today of the Jury's decision in the inaugural European Shadow Boxing challenge organised by the Management of the European Boxing Confederation for the Covid-19 Coronavirus pandemic.  The participants of the European Shadowboxing Challenge could upload their short individual videos to their social media platforms on Facebook and on Instagram. The jury then watched and evaluated all of the videos after the May 31st deadline.  Full Story

Covid-19 Strikes again----Mikaela Mayer who was to fight this weekend tested positive for the virus!

(JUNE 7) What should have been good news, ended up as disappointment when the fight is off with Mikaela Mayer vs. Helen Joseph:   Mikaela Mayer said, "I am heartbroken to report that I will no longer be fighting on Tuesday’s Top Rank card due to a positive result in my COVID-19 test yesterday.  It came as a complete surprise. I am currently asymptomatic and am quarantining at an off-site location per recommended guidelines. The rest of my team tested negative and they are all in good health. I was really looking forward to bringing back boxing for all of you and I’m disappointed for myself, my team, my supporters and for my opponent, Helen Joseph, who worked just as hard to be here this week and put on a show for everyone."

It will be a while before things get back to normal, but promoters are slowly starting to announce fights and shows.  Most notably, Top Rank is bringing back professional boxing in the United States on several dates this month, albeit without spectators, and other major promoters are aiming to do the same in July and August in America and the United..Full Story
