Five Belts on the line
by Sue TL Fox
June 30, 2020
(JUNE 30) There was big news
yesterday in women’s boxing when it was announced that Jessica
“CasKILLA” McCaskill, of Chicago, Illinois, will be facing Cecilia “First Lady”
Braekhus, Bergen, Norway, on August 15, 2020, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Braekhus will be defending her WBC, WBA, IBF, IBO, and WBF
Welterweight titles. McCaskill will be moving up in
weight class to take on Braekhus.
The sport literally came to a
stand-still when the COVID-19 came into our lives, and it
continues to play havoc in other countries and in the United
States.
McCaskill continues to keep the bar “high” in the opponents she
has fought thus far in her short career, when you look at who
she has fought with only 10 professional bouts, that include
fighting Katie Taylor, Erica Farias, who she defeated for her
first world title belt, winning the WBC Super Lightweight
title.
In another great world title bout---McCaskill defended her WBC
belt against Anahi Sanchez and added the WBA Super Lightweight
belt, and then after the Sanchez bout, she rematched with Farias
successfully defending her WBC/WBA Super Lightweight titles.
On May 26, 2020, there is a video interview by YSM Sports that
spoke with McCaskill about her upcoming fight and her prediction
in the fight with Braekhus----she said that she would like to
knock out Braekhus and shock the world.
She also talked about why she is fighting Braekhus. She told YSM
Sports that she is looking to make history fighting the big
names, having the opportunity to make her mark in the sport, and
she wants to fight high level competition. To hear the complete
interview, go here:
Braekhus brings to this fight longtime experience, with a
variety of opponents throughout her professional boxing career beginning in 2007----with her last fight taking place on November 30, 2019.
Braekhus has been training at Big Bear, California, since
January of 2020.
There is a "Lock Down" interview
by Chris Lloyd, with Braekhus in the following video.
She comes into the ring
undefeated with a 36-0-0 (9KO) record, and being a world class
champion since 2009.
WBAN will keep boxing fans updated on this upcoming bout. We are
excited to see some boxing action coming back into the ring this year.
