(MARCH 13)  Did you know that in 2005 there was a fantastic organization that featured all-female cards on PPV and ran a  women's boxing series that began in 2005?  WBAN would like to share a significant footprint in the sport of women's boxing when in that time frame the "A RING OF THEIR OWN" were one of the history-makers on the ground floor to having a series on women's boxing on PPV's  featuring all-female boxing cards, and more.

The Ring of their Own (AROTO) was a group of elite individuals who were definitely ahead of their time and they gave women's boxing a huge push in the mid 2000's to give women's boxing a platform in many shows that they put together for the sport.  WBAN will be publishing a series of articles on the A Ring of their Own to share with boxing fans this fantastic organization.  [Part I ]

In a press release from the AROTO that WBAN published on January 22, 2006, they wrote the following---please note that they were having PPV and a series of all-female fight cards in this time frame:

This is an expansion from the monthly format in 2005. Rock and Sock Productions has secured air time on several Comcast Sports channels and on Dish Network and Direct TV as well, via The Men’s Channel and Comcast broadcasts by satellite. "AROTO" is also often viewed on TSN throughout Canada. Additional clearance is expected throughout the year as well as internet broadcasts. Specific air dates and times as, well as scheduled fight information can be obtained by visiting our website.  Rock and Sock Production executives, the producers of A Ring Of Their Own, are very excited about the new schedule. "The weekly format allows us to be fan friendly and establish a continuity leading up to our June pay per view show", a company spokesperson said.  The 2006 series leads off with the Basic Cable and Satellite premiere of "World Title Wave" which had been exclusively seen only on pay per view. The show will be in three installments.  Other shows will include the Regina Halmich-Elena Reid world title fight from Germany and the newly taped shows of 2006, from the Hollywood Palladium and Harrah's Kansas City.  A Ring of Their Own" is the ONLY all women’s boxing series and is produced by Rock & Sock Productions. It is available weekly in over 40 million households in the U.S. and Canada.

In another press release for a PPV event, dated November 8, 2006:

Beginning November 17, 2006,  fight fans can watch the action of "A Ring of Their Own" Border War from the Shaw Conference Center in Edmonton, Alberta, which originated November 4, by turning in to iN Demand Pay Per View.  "AROTO" continues their tradition of the best competition in women’s boxing with this night of fights that saw three world champions emerge at the end of the evening. The evening is full of upsets and unpredictable endings. The fight action is called by Arnie Rosenthal and former 3 time national amateur champion Jill Emery. iN Demand pay per view is the U.S. distributor and suggested retail viewing price is only $14.95. The show debuts November 17 at 9 PM EST but can be seen numerous tines throughout the month. Viewers should consult listings for air times. For more info go to our website.
