(JULY 26) We may not have "Million Dollar Ladies" Lucia Rijker and Christy
Martin fighting on July 30th, since Rijker managed to get injured before one
of the highest paying women's bout that would have taken place in women's
boxing on this date. But we have a couple of Million
Dollar talents - Mary Jo Sanders and Eliza Olson who will be
fighting for the WBC World Welterweight title, on July 30th, at the
Cobo Hall, in Detroit, Michigan. Sanders, who currently holds
the IBA Continental Welterweight and IBA Continental Junior
Welterweight titles
is looking forward to fighting
her first world title bout.Olson, four-time junior welterweight
world title challenger, is looking for this fifth challenge to be a
charm and take home a world title as well. Both fighters come from
championship bloodlines. |
Sanders is the daughter of the
Detroit Lion's seven-time pro bowl champion, Charlie Sanders. Eliza Olson is
the granddaughter of former middleweight world champion, Carl "Bobo" Olson.
With that in mind, coupled with this being the first WBC Welterweight
World title fight for women, July 30th should prove to be historical.
