Ozlem Sahin
(6-0-1, KOs 3) is back. Sahin and her opponent Janina Benz (3-2-0, KOs 1), had the only female boxing match at the Arena Boxpromotion event.  Although Sahin had no opportunity to fight these last ten month for lack of fight arrangements she seems to have lost nothing of her speed and punch. Right from the start Sahin dominated her opponent, who is also an experienced and successful kickboxer, at will. Over and over again she landed her furious right-left combinations. In the third and fourth round almost every jab of Sahin proved successful, and they hit her opponent hard. In the fourth round, Benz’ head sagged after a right-hand punch from Sahin but she managed to recover quite quickly. The last two rounds followed the by then well-established pattern, with Benz seeming severely shaken in round six. The judges scored the light flyweight fight 60:54, 60:54, 58:56.  Sahin, who fought her first six-rounder, demonstrated once more why many people consider her the greatest talent in German female boxing.

October 3, 2009 - Vireux-Wallerand -As was to be expected, Aziza Oubaita of France had far too much of everything last weekend  in Vireux-Wallerand for last-minute replacement Klaudia Ferenci [1-5(2)-2] of Slovakia, carrying in all probability all six rounds on all three cards. In truth, it was only a fight for four minutes: Ferenci began well enough, conceding the centre of the ring to the more aggressive Oubaita but answering the menacing forays of the Frenchwoman with counter-attacks of her own; in the first round break, you could see that – although fearful, as the commentators remarked – she was still hanging in there, still believed; but ten seconds from the end of the second, Oubaita caught her with a hard right hand; her knees buckled and, with them, her will. Her body language said it, and as the fight resumed, her tactics said it too: her sole objective from that moment on was survival. She began holding, trapping Oubaita’s glove whenever possible between her ribs and upper arm, pressing her cheek to the Frenchwoman’s shoulder as though they were dancing a slow, and generally playing for time. Oubaita responded at first with irritation, shoving the Hungarian at one point violently off her with a mien of contempt, but seemed in the end to accept that, short of quitting, the Slovakian girl really had no other cards to play. October 2, 2009 - Coliseo Miguel ‘Happy’ Lora in Montería, Colombia
Both women had predicted a knockout, but although finishing ahead on the scorecards winning by a unanimous decision in a four-round bout, local featherweight Liliana 'La Tigresa' Palmera  had to really exert herself to get the better of Ángela 'La Ráfaga' Marciales of Barranquilla. This was Palmera’s first fight of the year, and at times, in the view of reporter Henry Velasco Montoya, the ring rust was all too evident. Photo and story: El Meridiano de Córdoba
