Ji Hyun Park, 102, successfully defended her IFBA jr. Strawweight World title, against United States Hollie "Hot Stuff" Dunaway, 101.

February 28, 2009 - Club Luperon, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
Lightweight Katy Penelope Hernandez TKO'd Diana Garcia in the fourth round. The two were fighting 10 rounds for the  vacant Dominican Republic lightweight title.

February 28, 2009 - Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Georgetown, Guyana
Heavyweight Veronica Blackman won a six-round split decision over Sharon Ward.

February 28, 2009 - Auditorio Guelaguetza, Oaxaca, Mexico
Super flyweight Ana Maria Torres,114¾, stopped Paulina Cardona, 113½,  by TKO in the fourth round [57 seconds] of a scheduled 10-round bout for the WBC super flyweight title.

February 28, 2009 - Hotel Casuarina, Buru Buru, Nairobi, Kenya
Middleweight Conjestina Achieng, 160,  won a six-round unanimous decision over Charity Mukami. 2009-02-28 160 Charity Mukami, 161.  Final judges scores were 59-55, 59-54, and 58-57.

Tsunami Tenkai

Bantamweight Isabelle Leonardi, 116¾, won a four round unanimous decision over Fouzia Blel, 115¾.

February 13, 2009 - Coliseo Gaira, Santa Marta, Colombia
Super bantamweight Mayerlin Rivas, 122, won by a first round KO over Alejandra Ariza, 121½. Venezuelan Mayerlin Rivas remains undefeated now at 4-0-0 (3KO). According to news sources, Rivas “pulverized” Ariza in the first round in a bout that was scheduled for six rounds.

February 12, 2009 - Palacio Peñarol, in Montevideo, Uruguay, Chris “Bombon Asesino” Namús, 140, of Montevideo, Uruguay, won a 10-round unanimous decision over Nicole Woods, 140, Stone Mountain, Georgia, USA. The judges scores were 98-93, 100-88, 99-94. 

February 7, 2009 - Nuevo Palacio Aurinegro, Puerto Madryn, Chubut, Argentina
Featherweight Maria Potenza,119½, won by a fourth round technical decision over Claudia Lopez, 122½. Featherweight Soledad Matthysse, 125¾ won by a four round unanimous decision over Maria Quiroga, 126.

February 6, 2009 - Gimnasio Luis Estrada Medina, Guasave, Sinaloa, Mexico
Lina Ramirez, 121¼, won a six-round unanimous decision over Silvia Zuniga, 122.

February 6, 2009 Convention Center, McAllen, Texas
Strawweight Maria Salinas, 103½, Stephanie Gonzales, 101¼,  in a four-round unanimous decision.  

February 6, 2009 - Tachi Palace Casino in Lemoore, California
Carina “La Reina” Moreno, 109.2, now (21-1, 6 KO's), defeated Sharon Gaines, 109.2, now 11-12-1 (3KO), with an eight-round unanimous decision, in a scheduled flyweight (112 lb.) bout.  According to Mario Serrano he said, "Moreno showed superior skills while dominating a one-sided thrashing over Sharon Gaines, 109.2. In the early rounds Moreno went right at Gaines letting her know that she wasn’t going to let the move up in weight take affect. Moreno’s overhand right found a home right from the opening round. As the fight went down the stretch, Moreno continued to land multiple punches at will." “This was a good test to see how I feel at a higher weight,” said Moreno. “I feel comfortable fighting anywhere from 105 lbs to 112. I'm going to get together with my management and see what’s next.” Serrano said, "Moreno wins another unanimous decision with scores of 79-73, 80-72 twice, extending her winning streak to 13."

February 3, 2009 - Masonic Temple, in Brooklyn, NY
