June 28, 2008 - Centro Recreativo del Educador (COEDUCO), Penonomé (Coclé, Panama)
Junior Flyweight Abigail Villar (104.5 lb) won a four-round unanimous decision over Carolina Montenegro (105 lb).

June 28, 2008 - Coco Beach Casurina, Nairobi, Kenya
Middleweight Charity Mukami won a four-round unanimous decision over Ruth Ebole, pro debuter.

June 27, 2008 - Palais des Sports, Toulon, Var, France
Junior welterweight Myriam Lamare won by RTD in the third round over Angel McKenzie. The fight was scheduled for six rounds.

June 27, 2008 - Morongo Casino Resort & Spa, in Cabazon, California
Super bantamweight Kaliesha West, 123 1/2, now 9-0-0 (1KO), won a six round unanimous decision over Elizabeth Villarreal, 123 1/4. Final judges scores were 60-54 twice and 59-55 for West.

June 27, 2008 - A La Carte Event Pavilion, 21 Tampa, Florida
Super featherweight Jenna Shiver, 128,  won a four-round unanimous decision over Renee Richardt Douglas, 125. Final judges scores were 40-35 on all cards. (This fight has been reported on other boxing sites as a KO and it is not) [Logged into master search]

June 26, 2008 - Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino, Lemoore, California
Super bantamweight Ana “The Hurricane” Julaton, TKO’d [37 seconds] Salina Jordan, 36 years old, in the first round of a scheduled four rounder. This is the fifth time out of seven fights that Jordan has lost to being stopped in the ring.  According to news sources, Jordan was a late replacement, and that Julaton was originally supposed to fight Mayela Perez.

June 25, 2008 - Playboy Mansion, in Beverly Hills, California, and on an ESPN2 card
Melissa McMorrow
, 106, of San Carlos, California,  won her pro debut by a four-round unanimous decision against Mayela Perez, 106. Final judges scores were 39-37, 39-37, and 40-36.

June 21, 2008  - Copenhagen, Denmark
Galina Koleva Ivanova won the WBC, GBU and the vacant WBA Bantamweight  title, by defeating Anita Christensen. The judges scored the fight 98-91, 97-93 & 100-89. Anita Christensen was knocked down in the 4th round.  The other female bout of the evening saw Vinni Skovgaard win the European (EBU) Light Welterweight championship fight against Cornelia Zimmer of Germany. Zulina Munoz won a 10-round unanimous decision over Maria Elena Villalobos for a WBC “International” bantamweight title.  (Villalobos is ranked #15 with Boxrec, Munoz is ranked #13 with boxrec, and both are not ranked with WBAN). [Logged into master search]

Featherweight Rukia Nasarite won a six round bout by points over Bena Kaloki. Also, Bantamweight Zarika Njeri TKO’d Jamhuri Said in the first round, in a scheduled six rounder. [Logged into master search]

June 21, 2008, at the Chrysler Halle, in Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany 
Elina Tissen
(ranked #27 on Boxrec), won the "Global Boxing Council" (GBC) featherweight title against Elena Dima, now 0-3-0, (ranked #75 on Boxrec).  Tissen TKO’d the winless boxer in the fourth round of a scheduled 10 rounder.  One boxing fan wrote into WBAN and said, “I checked the GBC website, to see if they had an advertisement saying, “Order your world title here”, or words to that effect. The website didn’t have one, but they might as well. It's a complete joke.”  On Insidewomensboxing.com they reported, “In Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany, featherweight Elina Tissen (7-2, 4 KOs) TKO’d overmatched Elena Dima (0-3) in the fourth round of a ten-round fight. The [GBC] sanctioned the mismatch for one of their belts.” [GBC Alert: Questionable Title Bout]

June 21, 2008 - Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Hollywood, Florida
In a six round hard fought see-saw battle in the first ever women's fight at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida,  Cecilia Braekus decisioned Nicole Woods. Woods said, "Braekhus is a good fighter and to take nothing away from her it was her day. I broke my hand in the second round but continued on fighting with skill, heart and determination, by no means was I outclassed. I would have loved to see how the fight would have turned out if I had I had the use of both hands. So to the Sauerland Team whether it be here in the US or in Germany Let's Do It Again". The judges were  59-55, 60-54, 60-54.

June 19, 2008, at the Bricktown Plaza Hotel, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Monica McGowan
, 212½, ranked #2 with WBAN, fought a pro debuter, Gayle Eidschum, 196½ , in a four-rounder.  Eidschum was TKO’d in the first round, 25 seconds into the round according to BoxRec. Any shame in fighting in an obvious mismatch--- probably not.  It doesn't appear that this has been one mishap as of late for McGowan, who is highly ranked in the sport.  On June 9, 2007, McGowan, 229,  stopped a 0-2-0 boxer, Celeste Smith, 241, in the first round in Louisiana. Junior Lightweight Erin McGowan, 129½, TKO’d Christina Tai, 128½in the seventh round of a scheduled 10-round vacant PABA junior lightweight title. [Logged into master search]

Super Bantamweight Yang Ying, won a four-round unanimous decision over Qian Kun.

June 14, 2008 -  Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City, Mexico
Welterweight Mia St. John (44-9-2, 18 KOs), 146,   won an eight round majority decision over Amy Yuratovac (6-2, 6 KOs), 147,  to claim the WBC international crown. Scores 78-74, 79-73 and 76-76.

HISTORY FIRST FOR WBAN AND IN THE SPORT OF WOMEN'S BOXING
June 13, 2008 -  Isleta Casino & Resort, Albuquerque, New Mexico

In the main event, Holly Holm, 150½ , won a 10-round unanimous decision over  Mary Jo Sanders, 152¼.  Holm won the Junior Middle IFBA World title, and the history first WBAN Championship Belt. In the co-main event, Chevelle Hallback, 132 , won a 10-round unanimous decision over Jeannine Garside, 132. The two were fighting for the IFBA Lightweight World title.  Hallback also received the history first WBAN Championship Belt . Strawweight Wendy Rodriguez, 101, won a close and controversial split decision over Hollie Dunaway, 104.  The two were fighting for the IFBA and IBA strawweight World titles.  Lastly, Carina Moreno, 107¾ won a 10-round unanimous decision over Eileen Olszewski, 107¾. The two were fighting for the Junior flyweight IFBA and IBA world title.

In the main event, Lisa Brown, 121 3/4, retained her IFBA World Junior Featherweight title when she defeated Alicia Ashley by a 10-round split decision; Jill Emery, 146 1/4, won the IFBA World welterweight title when she defeated Angel Martinez, 146. 75, by a unanimous decision; Melinda Cooper, 120, won by a fourth round TKO over Donna Biggers, 120, in a six rounder; Ela Nunez, 124 3/4, won a six-round unanimous decision over Jeri Sitzes, 126 lbs

Melissa “Huracan” Hernandez, 131, of Bronx, New York, defeated Missy Fiorentino, 132, by a third round TKO in a scheduled eight round bout.  According to news sources the fight was non-stop, and that Hernandez was leading, when Fiorentino received a cut. Junior middleweight Jessica Bologun, won a 10-round majority decision over Anja Henning. The two fought for the WFC Junior Middleweight title. Final judges scores 92-98, 95-95, and 93-97; Also, featherweight Kira Schnuerer had a 10-round draw with Marina Kohlgruber. The two were fighting for the vacant WFC European title. Final judges scores were 94-95, 95-95, and 97-93.

June 6, 2008 – Club Deportivo Argentino, Buenos Aires, Argentina
