February 28, 2008 - Civic Hall, in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, England
In the large modern hall in the centre of this industrial town, local promoters P.J. Rowson and Errol Johnson staged an 8 bout Championship Tournament before a well behaved, but enthusiastic audience of 800 patrons.  In the second bout of the evening, there was a special female International featherweight rematch scheduled for six rounds, between Wolverhampton’ Lyndsey Scragg, 128¾, a 28 year old firefighter, and Yarkor Chavez Annan,  128, a 25 year old hairdresser from Accra, Ghana.  When they last fought in a four round bout, at the Town Hall, in Dudley, England, on 28th June 2007, Scragg won on points.  This was an attractive contest of lively movement with both girls throwing good punches at times.  Nearing the end of the first round,  Scragg knocked Annan down for a count of eight. However she was unable to repeat this. The fight settled into a series of powerful exchanges with Scragg being the aggressor and dominating the play.  A neat purposeful fighter she clearly had mastery of her opponent – a fact which culminated in the closing seconds [1:25] of the final round when the referee stopped the fight in her favour  - ruling that Annan was no longer able to defend herself.  Scragg moved to 4-0-0 (3K0), and Annan drops to 7-4-1 (3KO). ©Copyright John E.G.Wilson

February 28, 2008 - Roseland Ballroom, New York City, New York
Eileen Olszewski, 110
½, fighting in her present hometown, won the WIBA flyweight title with a ten round majority decision over Elena Reid, 111, of Las Vegas at the Roseland Ballroom, minutes from Broadway, in New York City on the under-card of a boxing program promoted by Cedric Kushner's Gotham Boxing and Steve Bash's Bash Boxing. The scorecards read: 95-95, 98-92 (2x) and in the view of the partisan crowd and, probably, a substantial portion of those fans at Roseland with no rooting interest, the two judges, who had Olszewski the clear winner, had a much better view of the bout than the lone dissenting arbiter.  Olszewski controlled the early rounds with her straight up, come forward style. Reid made a valiant attempt at salvaging her title in the middle rounds with effective counter punching to the body. But the new champion clinched the decision by landing the bigger punches more effectively and more often in the last three rounds.  Logged in Master Search

February 23, 2008 - Aachen, Germany
The preliminary program of a small but successful boxing event that took place in the "Josefshaus", a church hall in Aachen, Germany, showed an outstanding female boxing match. Junior middleweight Jessica Balogun was up against Manon Rohrbach. Both have so far boxed successfully and well as amateurs and now as pro boxers, as they both made their pro debut this night.  In the end, Balogun won the four round fight by points due to her astonishing reflexes and amazingly fast hands. by Ewe Betker
