Why Does A Military Reservist, Lab Technician, Mother of two love Boxing?!

(APR 16) Elisha Olivas, 28 years, old,
born in Long Beach,
California, and lives in Denver, Colorado,
is a young woman with many dreams and goals in life that is very inspiring
and motivating. Elisha has fought and overcome many obstacles in her life to
be where she is today in life.
Elisha, comes from a life of unstableness. Losing her father at six years
old. Elisha started working at age 11, to help support herself and her
mother. Despite all of the unstableness of her environment, she
managed to stay in school and attend Lincoln High, and did manage to
get her GED certificate from alternative schooling in 1995.
Elisha began boxing at the age of 19 with Steve Maetas coach of the House of
Pain Gym., through the program she developed a self-esteem and true
confidence in herself. She fought in the amateurs for approximately three
years before she turned pro. After Elisha had a few pro bouts, she then got
married at the age of 24, having two children, Luis and Felice.
Elisha decided to get more out of life and then joined the Air Force at the
age 26. Elisha, enjoys serving her Country and also for the opportunity of
furthering her education in hopes of getting her Masters Degree in Medicine.
(She currently Works as a Lab Tech with Denver Health) Also due to a
divorce to get suitable employment to support her and her children.
As for boxing, she loves the rush and the mental and physical demands
of the sport and the thought of one day getting the opportunity of getting a
title shot and becoming a World Champion.
Elisha current Pro record is 3-4-1.
Eilsha, credits her strong will in her beliefs and trust in God, and as long
as she has Faith, God will deliver.
As for being a role model---Elisha states in her own words: “Defiantly,
Cause I Come from Nothing, and I’m Very Happy with Who I am Now, and I Love
Myself”!
Elisha will be deploying to Saudi on May
15th, 2005 for active duty. She is a True Soldier of God,
Country and Family, Role Model,
A Real American Hero!
