Pamela London was born on September 13, 1973, in the Ancient County of
Berbice. She grew up hearing a lot about boxing from Colin Morgan, Trainer
of Current World Champion Wayne Braithwaithe. So her love for the sport came
at a tender age, but she never envisioned participating.
He brother, known in Guyana's boxing world as "Transom" was an excellent
amateur boxer who was under the watchful eye of Morgan. Pamela remembered
she had to learn to defend herself first in the home against her peers and
at school. So she got into the habit of fighting after learning a lot from
her brother and sister Pauline London who joined a GYM.
Pamela opted to play Football and Cricket since they were active sports that
female played in those early days. She won several bets against boys at
Doving the Football, topping 100 each time she placed the ball at her feet.
The mother of two found herself wanting something to do in 2002 since she
was jobless and was a single parent. She spent those tough days at relatives
in Linden, another town in Guyana over 100 miles away from her birthplace.
There she often visited the Young Lions Gym to watch the young amateur
boxers and met Shondell Parks, a 300 pound Heavyweight who was training to
become a boxer. Parks encourage London to start the fistic sport, which she
did.
Her debut came August 29, 2003 on a card headlined by Parks. London came
away with a Draw against former Guyana and CAC Bodybuilding Champion
Geraldine Cox in a four round encounter.
Her performance against the more seasoned campaigner encouraged her, and she
rematched with Cox three months after. This time her convincing performance
failed to attract the judges who gave a controversial loss. London vowed not
to return to the ring, but was encouraged by now Manager/Promoter Carwyn
Holland who challenged her to win her next fight in order to secure a
manager contract with him. Such she did one month afterwards,
defeating Shelly Gibson and went on to capture her first national title on
February 21, 2004
from her one time friend and person who invited her to the sport
Shondell Parks. Parks had a 100 plus pounds advantage in that fight,
but London showed grit and determination to pound out a unanimous
decision. |

London returned to the ring in April, this time against her first foreign
opponent in Trinidadian Crystal Lessy and won on points before avenging her
only loss to Geraldine Cox on the undercard of Guyana's 1st World Title
Fight stage May 29 by Holland's Entertainment Promotions.
The gutsy "Tyson-Like" Power Puncher is set to face Margaret Walcott next
Saturday, September 25 to defend her National Title before fine tuning
preparations for her November 27 WIBA World Title fight against Colombian
Flor Maria Delgado.
London weighs only around 180 pounds, and intends capturing the Heavyweight
Titles before challenging for Titles at 175 pounds.
