Super Welterweight Marianne Ahlborg, of  Gothenburg, Sweden, began boxing later in life a the age of 21 years old.   She also was very active with other different sports during her whole life, and one in particular was participating in soccer.

Ahlborg told WBAN, "I got tired of that and decided to try something new and I thought that boxing would suit me as I always have loved hard physical training and have always been a strong and tough girl."

"For the first time I stepped into a boxing club I fell in love, " added Ahlborg.

Ahlborg said that from the beginning of getting into boxing, she thought that she would only train in the sport and not compete. But in retrospect she realized that she was wrong because of her natural competitive nature, and loving to win!

I did my first fight and after that it went fast forward for me. I fought anyone. No matter how much more experience the girls had compared to me or how many more fights than me, it didn't mattered.

Having close to 80 fights as an amateur, becoming a two-times Swedish Champion, and representing the National Team at many of the world's biggest tournaments, she decided to turn pro.

On December 19, 2020, at the Universum Gym, Hamburg, Hamburg, Germany,  Ahlorg, 152.5, making her pro debut, she won a four-round unanimous decision over Borislava Goranova, 155½.   The fight was a Universum Box-Promotion Event.  Full fight video below:

On February 20, 2021, at the Universum Gym, Hamburg, Germany,  Ahlborg won a six-round unanimous decision over Aleksandra Rapaic. In a second female bout, super lightweight Naomi Mannes won by an RTD over Kim Angelina Jaeckel.

WBAN asked Ahlborg what she would like to accomplish in the sport, and she said, "My goal is to become world champion."

"I have never have given up and I want to convey it to other girls---never give up, follow your dream no matter what others around you think," added Ahlborg.
