5'5" lightweight Hollie Towl, 17
years old, who is an amateur five-time National Champion, from
Sheffield, which is based in a small mining town in Worksop.
When in the amateurs, she was 34-6. [All photos sent to WBAN
with permission to use all photos on this bio].
Last year on September 4, 2020, Hollie had her pro debut on the
"let Battle Commence Boxing Show" that was held in Aberdeen, and
was shown on Fite.tv. Hollie was scheduled to fight Jamie
Bates, and won the bout by TKO in the fifth round.
On April 24, 2021, that was an all-female boxing card, that was
history-making in the area, on the "Let Battle Commence "The
Lionesses", she fought in a six-rounder against Cara Maclochlain,
winning by points with a 59-55 final score.
Hollie said, "by simply dominating the amateur ranks in three
different weight classes. I feel now is the time to set my
sights on doing the same in the professional ranks. I’ve
been boxing since 11 years old after previously educating myself
in the arts of kickboxing, karate and Taekwondo, including a
European champion in kickboxing, but one day in back in 2014,
my life along with my dreams simply clicked. Changed. It had
transformed into something magical.
"A boxing marriage between myself and my coach Chris Boyle of
Xbox boxing academy Worksop which is now also known credibly as
Boyle’s pro boxing. I remember me and my mum going along for a
trial session at the academy and wow. Everything just exploded
like dynamite. Don’t get me wrong after this session I then
attended an academy session which nearly killed me. I thought I
could never go back as it was just so tough. But because of that
connection in my first session with coach Chris, I knew I
couldn’t give up as something special was born that day, added
Hollie.
When first getting into competing, Hollie said that after losing
her first three fights and absolutely sobbing her heart out.
That she and Coach Chris just remained strong and stuck together
working hard to put things right.
Hollie said, "after this the wind started flowing and the belief
was in full effect. Currently I have won national championships
at three different weights back-to-back over six years including
revenging my most devastating loss to the girl that gave me my
first ever loss. Over a three-year period, I remained
mainly unbeaten winning every single box cup including the Irish
championship. The winter box cup and also the prestigious
National association of boys and girls club. Out of 34 amateur
fights I’ve lost only 6, and a lot of my opponents I have either
gave counts to or stopped them inside the distance. I’ve also
been invited year on year into the England boxing national
pathway."
Hollie told WBAN that so far she has sparred the best out there,
with two-time Olympic champion Nicola Adams in three of
her pro camps, WBC champion Terri Harper and commonwealth
champions Nina Bradley.
"My goal is very simple. In words anyway. I aim to equal my hero
the great Iron Mike Tyson and become the youngest ever
professional female world champion. I will do this. I want this
to be part of my journey and history, " said Hollie.
Hollie added, "myself and my management team at Boyle’s pro
boxing are looking for a three fight sponsorship deal of £500
per fight, in return I personally promise you one exciting
journey! With full social media exposure and VIP tickets
to all my fights! A gift sponsorship package is also provided
including exclusive fight canvases and gift packages. Truly, I
can’t explain how important sponsorship is to my dream! My
medical costs per year are £700 , and my opponent fees and
training expenses are between £1000 and £1300 per fight before I
even make a penny. But my dreams I believe are priceless. So
your help is hugely appreciated. As stated before as a sponsor
you will get full logo and branded media exposure along with
fight wear bearing you company logos and what better than VIP
tickets to the best fight in town!"
So what does Hollie do outside the ring and who is she as a
person?
Hollie lives on the outskirts of Sheffield with her mum and dad,
and her sibling. She and her sibling competed together in
martial arts before she fell head over heels in love with
boxing.
Hollie said, "as you can gather by my age, I’ve just
finished secondary school and it’s fair to say even though I’ve
tried my best! School just isn’t for me. My coach and manager
Chris Boyle has always drilled into me the ultimate belief and
constantly told me to forget having a back up plan as he doesn’t
think I need one as boxing and being a champion and legend in
the sport is my true calling."
Hollie's parents are fully supportive in her dream and bothher
mum and dad play an active role within her boxing life and their
support and help means a lot to her.
"Money doesn’t motivate me but my aspirations and dreams truly
fuel me. I started an apprenticeship with sports coaching in
September 2020 with my coach and mentor Chris Boyle and I’m
looking forward to this immensely but every single night I dream
of becoming a world champion," said Hollie.
Hollie is extremely dedicated to the sport and she trains
extensively in a six-day program with only Sunday, as her day of
rest. Most days she trains three times a day when in camp.
In addition, she mentors the young warriors at the academy
from 5 years old.
Her amateur achievements;
East Midlands champion 2015 - 2020.
National champion 2014-2020 at three different weight classes.
