While many girls are graduating
from high school at the age of 18, and looking forward to
college, at 18, “Diamante Cordero” was following her Dream in
the sport of professional boxing.
Unlike the U.S., and many other countries, in Latin America many
boxers are convinced or coerced into turning pro before the age
of 18, with little to no amateur experience, hence converting
these into journeymen fighters.
Dayana “Diamanté” Cordero was the “exception.” She was a
“Diamond in the Rough.”
