At this year’s 2nd Regional WBC Green Belt Challenge in Longmont, Colorado, one (1) bout stood out as it was the only female match up in the entire tournament where there was a 43 fight card over a 2-day period.

Aniyah Ramos and her opponent Victoria Acevedo fought a tough action packed fight which left spectators standing on their feet rooting for both fighters throughout the match.  Ultimately, Aniyah Ramos won earning fighter of the tournament and with it the Prestigious WBC Amateur Champion Belt. Here’s what Aniyah Ramos shared.

“Hi my name is Aniyah Ramos, I am a freshman at Columbine High School. I live in Denver, Colorado.

I started boxing two years ago and have had the pleasure of working with my two coaches Gilbert Archuleta and Justin Vashaw. These two men have become a big part of my life and have never given up on me through the tough times of boxing.

When I started boxing it was really difficult and it didn't come naturally to me so I had to work 10 times harder to get where I am now. In my two years of experience in boxing I have been to Silver and Golden Gloves.

I had the pleasure of competing in the 2nd Regional Green Belt Challenge on April 30-May 1, 2002, in Longmont, Colorado, where I won my match resulting in me winning a junior WBC Amateur Champion belt and fight of the night. My current record is 4-5-0

It was an honor receiving this belt and I am looking forward to being a world boxing female champion in the future.” - Aniyah Ramos
