5'0" straw-weight/flyweight Sarah "Thrilla from Manila" Goodson was born
Sarah Ann Rama on September 7, 1973 in Lomboy, Cebu City in the Philippines.
She now lives in Paris, Arkansas. Her boxer husband Stacy "Goodnight" Goodson is also her
manager.

Mississippi, weighing in at 104 lbs and losing by a TKO 1:27 into the first

for most of the bout while Ahlin countered with effective combinations to the
head.
On December 10, 1999 at the Grand Casino in Tunica, Mississippi,
Darla Leopold (5'3", 108 lbs) improved her record to 1-1 with a 4-round

A Women's Boxing Page correspondent told me that Goodson was able
to control the fight when she used her jab, but that Leopold, a 52 year old former Tough Woman contestant,
was too busy and wild for Goodson to handle overall.
On January 14, 2000 at the Beaumont Club in Kansas City, Missouri,
Deanna "Dynamite" Nance (100 lbs) of Gore, Oklahoma won a four-round unanimous
decision over Sarah (100 lbs). According to a ringside reporter, it was "a
good action fight controlled by Nance as Goodson displayed a limited offensive
arsenal ... primarily a right hook to the body, which Nance absorbed easily.
Both fighters used few combinations, relying on single jabs or hooks." Nance
was the runner-up in the 100-lb division at the 1999 National Golden Gloves
tournament in August 1999, and this fight was her pro debut.
On February 18, 2000 at the Burlington Memorial Auditorium in Burlington, Iowa,

Nina Ahlin
moved to 8-2-1 (2 KO's) with a six-round unanimous (60-54 x 3) decision over

and threw many lunging rights in her second bout of the year against
the polished Ahlin. Ahlin did a dance routine in the ring with her fellow
Atlanta Falcons cheerleaders after the bout.

Vaia Zaganas (103½ lbs) of Burnaby, BC, Canada
won by TKO over Sarah (104 lbs) at 0:36 in the eighth round for the vacant IFBA Strawweight title.
Goodson was outskilled by the 2001
Canadian amateur 45-kg champion (31-4 amateur record), who was usually able to block or slip her
wild haymakers. Goodson had points deducted for illegal tactics (holding and
wrestling) in the third and eighth
rounds. She spit out her mouthpiece and left
the ring when the second point was taken away.
That snme right hand had
swollen Vaia's eye shut." Zaganas, who was now fighting out of Las Vegas, ended the scheduled twelve-round bout with a goose-egg over her left eye
but she had acquired the IFBA belt and a 5-1-0 (3 KO) pro record as Goodson fell
to 5-12-1.

while Zaganas worked her jabs and combinations inside Goodson's wild swings.
Zaganas improved her pro record to
14-2-0 (6 KO) while Goodson slipped to 8-14-1 (2 KO) with her third loss to Zaganas.
