Jean E. Martin, in her 30’s, is not only
one of the amateur women boxers in the world, but is a Sergeant with
the New York City Police Department, and has been for 14 years.
Martin is the only female to have won the New York Golden Gloves
tournament five (5) times. Three times at the 139 lbs. and twice in
145 lbs. weight class. She is also the first and only Female on the
N.Y.P.D. PBA Boxing Team. Boxing record 37 wins 5 losses.
Jean was a member of the 1999 Women’s
USA Boxing team that competed in a Dual Match against Canada. She
won the gold medal against Jaime Clampitt. She received an award for
outstanding performance for the event and the Athlete of the month
award.
Jean has been of the NYPD PBA Boxing team since 1998 to present,
which has competed against England, Ireland, Texas, Bermuda, and
Massachusetts Police Departments for various charities events. NYPD
boxing record 8-0.
Jean has fought many great female fighters that have since gone on
to be successful professional fighters, such as: Denise
Lutrick-Moreates, Jenifer Alcorn, Jaime Clampitt, Melissa Florentino,
Teresa Perozzi and Stephanie Jaramillo.
