Amateur Boxer Lisa Kuronya, 28, 10-0-0 (5KO), 5’11”, 147 lbs, lives in Bowdoin, Maine. Kuronya has been boxing for two years and trains at the Portland Boxing Club in Portland, Maine. She is trained by Bob Russo and Skip Neales. Russo also manages her. Kuronya is a graduate of the West Chester University, that has a B.S. in Public Health/Environmental Science.

Highlights of Kuronya’s amateur career include: New England Golden Glove Champion (2002), Northeastern Champion (2002), CanAm Challenge Championship (2003). Kuronya told WBAN, “ I began my boxing career, when I was sent out of town (in Massachusetts) for work and was interested in getting into shape by participating in an activity other than running or aerobics classes, so I joined a kickboxing school. I met my husband Arthur working in Massachusetts and eventually moved to Maine.

After moving to Maine, and getting a taste for contact sports, there were no kickboxing schools in the area. I came across a boxing gym that was a few miles from where I worked, so I thought I’d give boxing a try. I joined the Portland Boxing Club and began my amateur boxing career in February 2001.” Kuronya is also into hiking, running, mountain biking, rock climbing, ice climbing, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Kuronya said that her goals in boxing is to become a national champion and then to box professionally.
