Krisztina "Baby"
Belinszky was born on October 2, 1979, in Budapest, Hungary.
In 1996, she started boxing and her
talent showed early on when the following year she won the bronze medal
in the Hungarian Amateur Championship, and she then won the silver Medal
in the International Cup of Szeged.
In 1998, she did not compete, due to the
Hungarian government not having the funds for women amateur
championships.
Between 1999 and 2000, Krisztina had great success when she won all of
her matches, that included the International Festival Cup, Amazon Cup,
Budapest Championship etc.
Kristina also won the gold in the amateur
Hungarian Championships, both titles in 1999 and 2000.
Kristina also fought American Carina Moreno (Moreno is now a pro), in
international competition, where she lost by point score.
In 2001, she won the International Amazon Cup and also, the Budapest
Championships. But, after that time she decided to turn pro.
About this time Krisztina did not have very good management, who threw
her into the ""deep-water"----her fifth fight was world championship
with Germany's Nadja Loritz, who won by a controversial majority
decision, with one judge calling the bout a draw. The German fans boo'd
the decision.
Just two weeks later, Krisztina, fought flyweight European
Champion Italian Sonia De Biase. At this fight she by lost by
points.
After her match with De Biase, she had three straight wins against
Judith Palacian, and Timea Dencsi and Natalia Bakos. She then
rematched De Biase on July 4, 2003, losing by points again.
In early 2004, she went under new management, and she began working with
training with József Metzger.
In September of 2004, she won the WIBF-GBU strawweight
championship against the German Julianne Quaassdorrf where after ten
rounds she won clearly by unanimous decision, and became World Champion.
(Report by Jollie Dee)
After three easy victory and trainer and management change, in March 13,
2005, she defeated Gabriella Insperger, capturing the vacant WIBU vacant
light flyweight title.
On September 3, 2005, she is set to fight American Stephanie Dobbs, when
she defends her WIBF-GBU strawweight title.
