Tanya "Redneck Mama" Colvin, was born in Marietta, Ohio, on July 28, 1981.  She lived in Marietta for only one year, and then moved to West Virginia. Colvin has three young sons, Jeremy, Damion, and Jensen.
Colvin attended Ritchie Co. High School, and graduated in 1999.

When Colvin is not boxing, she is a lead singer in a band called RT 74.   Colvin told WBAN, "I sing country and rock, so when I go to fights, I usually sing the National Anthem as well."

"I get just as nervous singing the National Anthem as I do fighting, because who wants to mess up on the National Anthem, sure not me (laugh)", added Colvin.

Colvin is not the only boxer in the family...her older brother, John Colvin Jr., is also a pro boxer.  Colvin said, "He has had five pro fights--his record is 2-3.  He has fought some really good boxers with good records---but he hasn't had a fight in a while now and wishes he could get one."

Colvin's amateur experience consists of competing in Toughman, and she said that she was 6-1 in that sport.

Colvin credits her parents for all of the hard work of them raising her, and she says, "I know I was a little Hellion."

Tanya is currently 2-0-0 (1KO),  (as of December 14, 2008).  She has so far defeated Elecia Battle on November 21, 2008, and  Sharmaine Fletcher on October 5, 2007.
