"My name is Elisa Collaro.  I am 23 years old, and am Italian.  I came to America almost two years ago to make a change in my life....and if I can, to make a change in the world of female boxing...March 2014"

Elisa "The Bomb" Collaro always had a way on her feet. While her mother wanted Elisa to use her moves on the dance floor during ballet practice, her friends had a different idea. For Elisa's fourteenth birthday, her friends forced her to attend a boxing lesson. After the lesson was over, Elisa decided that the world of ballet was no longer for her and she hasn't stopped boxing ever since.

After two short years of training, Elisa made a decision to compete in the amateurs.  So in 2008,  she trained in all the disciplines, including Kickboxing, K-1, Savate and Thai Boxing----bringing home numerous victories.  Elisa was very diligent in her trainer, and was very receptive to the aggressive training regime, and with that she decided to enter the kickboxing arena as a professional kickboxer in the 55 kg weight class.

On June 11, 2008, Elisa received an opportunity to fight for the Italian [full contact] Kickboxing Title.  Elisa won the fight by a decision winning her first Italian title.

Some highlights of her contact sports career included the following: Elisa, not happy with just one form of contact sports, she wanted to be an all-around fighter and compete in many different styles.  In kickboxing Elisa accumulated a 17 fight career, with a 15-2 (7KO).  She fought 12 matches under the K-1 guidelines, winning 11 with 6KO's and one loss;  Moreover Elisa won both of her fights as a Thai boxer; and won two out of three Savate fights---and also won 18 of her 20 light kickboxing matches.

These extraordinary results opened the eyes of European Boxing, affording her a second opportunity to compete at the Italian Kickboxing Championships.  In June of 2011, Elisa's success would continue in Italy as she won her second Italian Title.

Elisa said, "
When you wake up in the morning you have two choices.. Go back to sleep and dream your dreams, or wake up and chase those dreams."

Elisa picked to chase after those dreams....so she took action and decided to relocate to the United States to train because she said that in her country, it was very difficult to make a career---especially for a female.

Elisa came to New York in 2012 and since that moment she has trained as a tentative professional boxer ready to enter the scene as a pro boxer  at the world famous Gleason's Gym under the watchful eye Don Saxby which has trained former world champions such as Joan Guzman and Wayne Braithwaite.

"If you take away the kicks, she is actually a boxer. Since she started working with world champions, she become a slick fighter with a little touch of aggression and a lot of power. That's why people call her now The Bomb. She is also very marketable and fan friendly", said Team Collaro.
