Ana Laura "La Monita" Esteche, junior welterweight from Argentina, was born on September 6, 1990 in San Martin, Buenos Aires. where she lives with her partner, fellow female boxer Johana "Yoki" Gimenez in a small house owned by Gimenez's parents. She comes from a poor background and jokes that making a living by scavenging construction materials from demolished buildings in Buenos Aires helped her to build up her muscles while she shoveled debris.

After competing from 2007 to 2010 as an amateur (see video above), Esteche (130¼ lbs) made her pro debut as a junior lightweight at Club Belgrano in San Nicolas, Bienos Aires on January 14, 2011. She won a four-round unaimous decision over Marisa Nunez (129½ lbs), also of Buenos AIres  Nunez fell to 2-1-1 with her loss to Esteche.

On April 9, 2014 at Asociacion Mendocina de Boxeo in Mendoza, Argentina, Ana Esteche lost a six round majority decision to Betiana Vinas of Mendoza by scores of 55½-50,56-58, and 57-57. Vinas improved her record to 3-3-2 (0 KO's) with the win.

On June 24, 2011 at Ce.De.M. At times Melgar seemed more intent on taunting Esteche than fighting her, while Esteche focused on getting off her punches.  The fourth round saw a more businesslike approach from the showboating Melgar, but Esteche still controlled the action and landed the better shots.

On August 27, 2011 at Club Banco Provincia in City Bell, Buenos Aires, Argentina, Ana Esteche (135 lbs) won a four-round split (38½-39½,39-37½,39½-37½) decision over Paula Andrea Morales (137¼ lbs) of Isidro Casanova, Buenos Aires who fell to 3-5-0 (0 KO's).

On January 13, 2012 at Club Ferro Carril Oeste in Merlo, Buenos Aires, Ana Esteche (142¼ lbs) TKO'd Nerina Salafia (147¾ lbs) of Ituzaingo, Buenos Aires at 0:45 in the third round of a scheduled four. Salafia, who was fighting in her birthplace, was knocked down in the second round and took a standing eight count in the third; her record fell to 0-3-3 (0 KO's) with the loss and she has not boxed since (as of January 2014).

On March 23, 2012 at Club Atlético y Social Villa Calzada in Rafael Calzada, Buenos Aires, Ana Esteche (135¼ lbs) won a six-round unanimous  decision over Silvia Zacarias (135½ lbs) of Chascomus, Buenos Aires who fell to 7-10-5 (0 KO's).

On April 27 2012 at Ce.De.M. N° 2 in Caseros, Buenos Aires, Ana Esteche (130 lbs) TKO'd Betina Garino (131¼ lbs) of Buenos Aires at 0:49 of the first round of a scheduled eight. Esteche had been using her jab to move Garino around the ring, but when Garinao came forward to try to back her into a corner, Esteche tagged Garino with a right hook to the jaw that dropped her opponent to the canvas. Garino got up quickly but looked wobbly and the referee stopped the fight. Garino fell to 15-13-2 (2 KO's) with the loss.

On June 15, 2012 at Coliseo Cubierto Elías Chegwin in Barranquilla, Colombia, Ana Esteche (133¾ lbs) lost a ten-round majority (93-97,95-95,95-96) decision to Enis Pacheco Barrera (134¾ lbs) of Puerto Escondido, Colombia in Pacheco's first defense of the WBO World Lightweight title. Pacheco progressed to 10-1 (7 KO's) with the win.

This was a hard fought contest that pitted Esteche's steady aggression against Bustos's ability to move away while firing  straight combinations inside Esteche's looping punches. Bustos showed an ability to land effectively while backing up and improved her record to 10-2 (0 KO's) with the win.

On January 18, 2014 at the Club Social de Pesca, Naútica y Fomento (Fishing Social Club) Gym in San Clemente del Tuyú, Buenos Aires, Ana Esteche (138¾ lbs) won a clear 10-round unanimous (99-91,98-92,98-92) decision over previously undefeated former WBC Junior Welterweight titlist Monica "La Gata" Acosta (139¼ lbs) for the WBA Junior Welterweight title. Esteche used her jab effectively and landed the stronger punches and combinations on the more experienced Acosta. Acosta appeared to have more trouble finding her range although she pressed forward aggressively, only to be tagged by better timed and placed shots from the younger Esteche. Acosta, who is a preacher as well as a boxer, handed Esteche the WBA title belt herself, saying "It's yours, take care, you won well, God guide you.". Esteche improved to 10-3-1 (2 KO's) while dropping Acosta, a childhood friend of hers, to 19-1-2 (5 KO's).

She followed her world title win by deciding to "come out" about her relationship with Gimenez ina post-fight interview. Esteche said "This is something you should not hide, after all, happiness is not something you should hide, it is something to be shared and I, we, are happy."  She also said she had gave her all during the title fight with Acosta to show the day-to-day effort that she had put into the fight along with her trainers and "my woman."
