(JUNE 26) On Saturday night at the Club Atlético y Biblioteca Newell's Old Boys, Laguna Larga, Cordoba, Argentina, Laura Griffa, 120¾, won a ten-round unanimous decision over Cristina Pacheco, 121¼. Griffa won the Argentina Super Bantamweight belt. In a second female bout, super featherweight Natalia Aquirre, 126, won a six rounder over Edith Soledad Matthysse.  More on Results

(JUNE 20)  In just her first eight-round fight, Claressa "T-Rex" Shields scored a spectacular unanimous decision victory last Friday, June 16, at the Masonic Temple in Detroit to win the WBC Silver Super Middleweight Title. Shields (3-0, 1KO) dominated tough Sydney "Ginger the Ninja" LeBlanc (4-2-1), winning all eight rounds on all three judges' scorecards en route to adding the WBC Silver belt to her NABF Middleweight Championship belt. (JUNE 19) On Friday night at the  Bowlers Exhibition Centre, Manchester, Lancashire, United Kingdom, super welterweight Stacey Copeland, 156, of Hyde, Lancashire, United Kingdom making her pro debut, won by a four-rounder by points over Borislava Goronova, 155, of Sofia, Bulgaria. Final judges scores were 38-40.

Argentina:  Daniela Romina Bermudez and Paola Benavidez Fight to a Split Draw

(JUNE 19)  On Saturday night, at the Club Talleres, Arroyo Seco, Santa Fe, Argentina, Daniela Romina Bermudez, 114¾, had a 10-round split draw with Paola Benavidez, 114¼. The two were fighting for the WBO Super Flyweight title. Final judges scores were 96-94, 94-96, and 95-95.

(JUNE 17)  Friday afternoon saw ten women boxers crowned champions of the Americas as the penultimate day of the AMBC American Confederation Boxing Championships saw some memorable action in Tegucigalpa. With the men’s Semi-Finals also taking place to determine Saturday’s final session line-up, it was the women who took centre stage on Day Six of the competition, the biggest of its kind ever to be held in Honduras.  Full Story

Giebel Cruises To Beat Milenkovic In Germany

(JUNE 11)  24-year-old Leonie Giebel won the vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) Womens Eurasia Super Featherweight title on Saturday night, June 10, when she comprehensively outboxed Serbian-born Maja Milenkovic at the Porsche Zentrum in Paderborn, Germany. This was a rematch of a 2015 encounter, which Giebel won by fifth round stoppage, and Milenkovic showed that she had greatly improved in the interim. But Giebel, the reigning German national champion, was still too much for her, and on top from start to finish.  Full Story

Boxing; IOC confirmed 2 more weights for women in 2020 Tokyo Olympics

(JUNE 9)  Great news today from the International Olympic Committee is that there will be five women’s weights in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, the additional two 57kg and 69kg being at the expense of two men’s weights.   IOC President Thomas Bach made the announcement, later confirmed by a statement from IOC HQ.  Full Story

Crystal Hoy signs with New Manager

(JUNE 7)  Veteran pro boxer Crystal Hoy, who resides in Las Vegas, Nevada, and David Selwyn of Boxing Kid Management have agreed this week (June 5) to a Boxer/Manager agreement.   Crystal has been in the ring with many world champions such as Alicia Ashley and Yazmin Rivas. In her last fight she traveled to NYC and fought Heather Hardy and lost a Majority Decision.  Full Story
