February 24, 2011

(FEB 24) There are few things about Ana Julaton that appear to be overlooked in most of the articles that are written about her. The humble and somewhat shy 30 year old boxer from the bay area spends countless hours and energy training. That is expected. However, there are also endless and grueling hours being an ambassador for the sport that most of us are not aware of. Boxing is not Ana’s first love it is her heritage that holds that coveted spot. But the love in her heart for the sport of women’s boxing can not be denied, nor is it...Full Story

Ko-Pow This Weekend for Women's Boxing
February 12, 2011

(FEB 12) WBAN was made aware of another ridiculous bout, for another title on the block, when a pro debuter (according to Box Rec) Wannisa Somwung fights Hyun Mi Choi, for the WBA Featherweight World title in a 10-rounder.  We could not find any information as to other fights Somwung may have had,  and it appears that she actually has no fight history. Looks like a another black eye tonight in women's boxing. We are really batting a "thousand" this weekend in the sport.

AND...they WONDER why WBAN does not rank heavier fighters!
February 12, 2011

(FEB 12) Another classic example as to why WBAN no longer ranks the higher weight women in the sport---According to BoxRec, tonight at the Benton Convention Center, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Carlette Ewell, 14-7-0 (9KO),  will be fighting a winless 0-2-0 Latreka Moody in a 10-rounder no less. WBAN knows nothing about Moody and she has only fought in 2007 and 2010 in one four-rounder and one six-rounder where she was stopped. WBAN has found that in the heavier weight classes there just is not sufficient competition to rank these boxers.

Six Round WIBA Youth Title Fight?
February 12, 2011

(FEB 12)  According to BoxRec, tonight we have a SIX-ROUND YOUTH WIBA TITLE bout taking place on an otherwise "nice line up" of boxing action at the Sky Ute Casino, in Ignacio, Colorado.  Amanda Crespin will be fighting Brittany Cruz. It is a very good matchup---favored with a "silly" six-round youth title belt.
