(NOV 17) Last night at Camp Withycombe in Clackamas, Oregon, Anne Maxwell, of Mt. Vernon, Washington faced Kathlyn Martinez, of North Plains, Oregon,  in a super flyweight bout scheduled for four rounds. The event was promoted by Arena Wars Promotions.

Maxwell’s previous ring experience came as an amateur kickboxer. Martinez had won all three of her professional boxing matches, and this would be her first professional fight outside of Mexico.

Martinez was the aggressor early in the fight answering the opening bell and stepping to Maxwell throwing looping rights. Maxwell tried to settle in as would a boxer, using her jab to move Martinez, but Martinez continued to apply pressure, throwing punches while making Maxwell back up. Martinez backed Maxwell into the corner nearing the one minute mark of the round and began to land with both hands to Maxwell’s body. Maxwell proved effective in covering up, and in so doing she blocked many of the punches. However, blocking the punches meant that Maxwell was limited in her ability to throw punches at Martinez.

Despite being on the defensive, Maxwell showed resilience and determination. She managed to evade some of Martinez's punches with swift head movement, but Martinez's relentless attack made it difficult for her to find openings for counterattacks.

Martinez would score the TKO win at 1:44 of the opening round to remain unbeaten.
