Patricia Berghult to Challenge Chantelle Cameron for the Interim WBC Super Lightweight title in England
November 2, 2024

(NOV 2) Tonight at the Resorts World Arena, in Birmingham, England, Swedish fighter Patricia Berghult (17-1-0 (4KO), of Malmo, Sweden, will be facing the interim WBC super lightweight champion, Britain’s Chantelle Cameron (19-1-0 (8KO), of Northhampton, United Kingdom.

Berghult's experience and previous championship status make her a formidable opponent for Cameron. However, Cameron's recent battles with Taylor have undoubtedly sharpened her skills and resilience. Both fighters possess the determination and skill required to emerge victorious, making this an eagerly anticipated match-up.

Berghult previously held the WBC super welterweight title but lost to Natasha Jonas in September of 2022. Since then, she has only fought twice. Berghult returned on September 7, after 18 months out of action, to defeat Vaida Masiokaite (10-25-5) in a fight she dominated in its entirety.

Cameron had a 1-1 record with Ireland's Katie Taylor in 2023. After defeating Taylor in March, she lost the rematch in November.

The clash between Berghult and Cameron represents a significant opportunity for both fighters to prove themselves in the super lightweight division. For Berghult, a victory would not only earn her the interim WBC title but also serve as redemption after her loss to Jonas. On the other hand, Cameron will be looking to solidify her status as a force to be reckoned with in the division by successfully defending her interim belt.

With their contrasting styles and impressive records, this bout promises to be an enthralling encounter that could potentially steal the show.

The stakes are high, not just in terms of titles and rankings, but also for the legacy these fighters aim to leave behind. Berghult seeks redemption and a chance to reclaim her lost glory, while Cameron aims to solidify her position as a dominant force in the division. In a sport where one moment can change everything, both fighters will leave no stone unturned in their quest for victory. The stage is set, the anticipation palpable. All that's left is for these two warriors to step into the ring tonight.
