Another Black Eye in Women's boxing set to take place when Franco with 46 plus fights is matched with a 1-13-1 Female Boxer

(OCT 18) Tomorrow night in Cartagena, Colombia, while women’s boxing shines with great female bouts, as Amanda Serrano vs. Katie Taylor, and more, we again have another black eye facing the sport when Yolis Marrugo Franco, coming into the fight with a 32-14-4 (19 KO)s), of Cartagena, she is facing a 1-13-1 boxer Mirleydis Hoyos of San Juan de Uraba, Colombia, in a six-round bout.

Yolis Marrugo Franco’s last fight was against a 0-1-0 boxer in September of 2024 Keyiluz Godoy, of Venezuela. Godoy was stopped by KO in the second round of a six-round scheduled bout.

This match-up raises questions about the fairness and integrity of the sport. While boxing has seen significant progress in promoting women's bouts and showcasing their skills, instances like these remind us that there is still work to be done in ensuring equal opportunities for all fighters. The stark contrast in records between the two boxers raises concerns about the legitimacy of the match and whether it truly reflects a fair competition.

It is crucial for boxing authorities to closely monitor and regulate matchmaking, especially in cases like this where there is a clear mismatch in skill and experience. Such lopsided bouts not only put the less experienced boxer at risk but also tarnish the reputation of the sport. Steps must be taken to ensure that all boxers, regardless of their records or backgrounds, are given fair and equal opportunities to compete on a level playing field.

Additionally, the boxing community, including fans and promoters, plays a vital role in demanding fair and competitive matchups. By voicing concerns and advocating for fair fights, we can contribute to the continued growth and inclusively of women's boxing. It is only through collective efforts that we can address these issues and uphold the integrity of the sport.
