Sandy Ryan to Defend her WBO
Welterweight World Title against Mikaela Mayer at Madison Square

– On Friday night at the theater at Madison Square Garden, in
New York, in the mainliner, Mikaela Mayer, 19-2-0 (5KO) of
Colorado Springs, Colorado is set to fight WBO Welterweight
World champion Sandy Ryan, 7-1-1 (3KO), of Derbyshire, United
Kingdom, where Ryan will be defending her title in a scheduled
10-round bout.
Mayer's last fight that took place in January of 2024, was
against Natasha Jonas, where she lost by a close split decision
for the IBF Welterweight World title. Ryan's last fight took
place in March of 2023 when she defeated her opponent Terri
Harper by a fourth round RTD in a ten-rounder where she won the
WBO Welterweight World title. This will be a third defense of
her world title.
This match-up promises to be an intriguing clash between two
skilled fighters. Mayer, determined to bounce back from her
recent defeat, will be eager to claim the WBO Welterweight World
title. However, Ryan has shown impressive form in her recent
fights and will look to solidify her reign as champion with a
successful defense.
