(AUGUST 5)
We are continuing to see many
crazy matchmaking fights that are
taking place in the sport. WBAN implemented a database to
watchdog some of the worst offenders in the sport that are
validating the bouts that are featured on some of these boxing
cards.
Boxing in general has a long history of injuries, controversies,
and even deaths that have occurred within the sport.
Boxing
Commissions supposedly are responsible for implementing rules
and regulations that aim to minimize these risks and protect the
well-being of the athletes---and yet we are seeing the most
atrocious matches being made today and continued from the past.
They do have the power to suspend or revoke licenses of fighters
or promoters who violate these rules, further encouraging
compliance with safety measures and more>
But are they
following their own set of rules?
WBAN was under the belief that Boxing Commissions try to work on
ensuring that fighters are not subjected to excessive punishment
in the sport.
While no amount of oversight can completely eliminate the risks
involved in boxing, the efforts of Boxing Commissions is there
to help mitigate those risks and prioritize the well-being of
the athletes who are subjected to excessive punishment.
Is this really being done by Boxing
Commissions?
Is it not the responsibility of Boxing Commissions in their
regulatory role to play a crucial role in ensuring fair
competition? If that is indeed their role, then they are failing at their own
roles in the sport.
Recently we just had a female boxer with 111 losses,
Klaudia Ferenczi fighting a
pro debuter Julia Lee, and Ferenczi lost the fight by being
stopped. Ferenczi had fought in the same month, just 21
days prior to this fight with lee. Ferenczi has not won a fight since
2019. This is just one example of many that are similar to this
crazy matchmaking fight featured on a card.
In conclusion....By Boxing Commissions not properly overseeing the sport, it ends
up being at the expense of the fighters' safety and well-being.
It's a disturbing trend that has led to several incidents where
boxers have suffered serious injuries or even lost their lives
in the ring.
These incidents serve as a stark reminder of the urgent need for
stricter regulations and oversight in the boxing industry. It's
time for boxing commissions to prioritize the well-being of the
fighters and focus on ensuring fair and safe matches.
