Who Will Be Crowned WBAN's 2024 Fighter of the Year?
July 18, 2024

(JULY 18) The Women Boxing Archive Network, better known as WBAN, names its Fighter of the Year each year. In 2023, the organization made history by giving the honor to two boxers, Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano collected the coveted prize. It already has us thinking about the different female boxers 2024 has to offer and wondering which one will win WBAN’s 2024 Fighter of the Year honor.

For the time being, we would recommend fighting fans enjoy bonus code offers to bet on their favorite WBAN fighters. But it’s also never too early to start looking ahead and trying to crown the best female boxer in 2024. Check out the top contenders for the best female boxer in the 2024 title below.

Katie Taylor
Yes, Taylor just won WBAN’s Fighter of the Year award in 2023. But she hasn’t fought yet in 2024, so who are we to take it from her? She’s also scheduled to take part in one of the most-anticipated boxing matches of the year against Amanda Serrano in November.

Taylor and Serrano were originally supposed to have a rematch of their April 2022 fight on the undercard for the Mike Tyson and Jake Paul fight this summer. It would have provided them with amazing exposure. But even now that the fight won’t have any connection to the Tyson/Paul match, a Taylor win over Serrano could cement her WBAN Fighter of the Year status for another year.

Amanda Serrano
Like Taylor, Amanda Serrano hasn’t fought yet in 2024. However, she’s scheduled to change that soon by taking on Stevie Morgan in late July. If she wins that fight, it might automatically give her a leg up on Taylor when it comes to the WBAN Fighter of the Year title.

At the end of the day, though, Taylor and Serrano’s November fight will serve as the true test for which boxer deserves top billing from WBAN. The winner could end up earning the Fighter of the Year title for herself this year.

Jessica Camara
Jessica Camara has had plenty of highlights throughout her boxing career since debuting in 2017. But her biggest one to date might be the win she secured over the previously undefeated Choi Hyun-mi to secure the vacant WBA female Gold lightweight title in April 2024.

Will that win be enough to propel “The Cobra” to the top of WBAN’s boxing rankings? She might still be a bit of a longshot when you consider she doesn’t have another big fight lined up for 2024 yet.

Claressa Shields
Claressa Shields
is also a long shot to be named WBAN’s 2024 Fighter of the Year. But she won the third MMA fight of her career with a split-decision victory over Kelsey DeSantis at PFL vs. Bellator in February 2024.

Shields has an opportunity to strengthen her case further in July when she climbs into the boxing ring for the first time this year for a heavyweight fight against Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse. She’s stepping up two weight classes for the match, so a win could work wonders for her WBAN FOTY chances.
