The highly anticipated fight between female boxers Amando
Serrano and Katie Taylor might become the first combat event at
the new MSG Sphere
in Las Vegas. Previously, the UFC was
expected to be the first to use Sphere’s incredibly immersive
video and audio technology during their Mexican Independence Day
match on 16th September. However, reports indicate that talks
are underway to host the fight between Serrano and Taylor in Las
Vegas and official announcements will be made this week.
The first fight between the Puerto Rican and Irish female boxers
was hosted at New York’s Madison Square Garden in 2022.
Taylor
narrowly won over Serrano on points after a highly contested
ten-round fight. Sports Illustrated described the match as
“Fight of the Year” and many still rank it as the biggest female
boxing match in history.
Initially, the pair took directions after their first meetup
instead of organizing an immediate rematch. However, Taylor’s
promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed that talks are underway to do a
rematch two years after the first fight. This highly anticipated
female boxing match is expected to take place in June and
Bet365 Canada will offer sports punters solid odds on the matchup.
Sin City’s extraordinary $2.3 billion arena was opened last
year, boasting a sitting capacity of over 18,000 people and
other impressive features. The arena stands 366 feet tall and
516 feet wide, making it an astonishing new addition to the Las
Vegas famous skyline. It also features the world’s biggest LED
screen on its exterior, creating a series of stunning visuals.
This innovative arena was originally budgeted to cost $1.2
billion, but inflation in construction costs during the pandemic
ultimately pushed the final cost to $2.3 billion. The venue’s
main use will be music acts, with the main stage surrounded by a
large interior LED screen wrapping around the audience to create
the ultimate immersive experience.
MSG’s new Sphere arena can be used to bring performances to life
using different animations as the seats vibrate. The audience is
also surrounded by different machines for additional effects
like scents and winds for a 4D experience.
The Sphere can also host combat sports and Dana White seems
ready to start utilizing its resources. The UFC president has
booked the Arena for his Mexican Independence Day match and has
promised fans the greatest live combat experience. However,
Serrano and Taylor could beat him to it since Mexican
Independence Day isn’t until September.
