(MARCH 30) Ava Knight has
been one of the top female boxers of this century. Her knockout
of Arely Mucino in 2011 was one of the most devastating
knockouts in the history of boxing. That win made her the IBF
World Flyweight Champion and made her the #1 Flyweight in the
world. Today I had a chance to catch up with Ava for a few
minutes in person.
DS: How are you Ava?
AK: I am doing great. Life is great!
DS: I heard you gave birth to a boy and a girl
since your last fight. Are you enjoying being a mother?
AK: Yes I love being a mother. It brings me so much joy! I
love my kids to death and so do their father. We are a very
happy family. My family is the most important thing in my life.
DS: You just joined the Las Vegas Hustle of the Team
Combat League. Are you excited about this opportunity to show
your boxing skills again?
AK: Yes I am very excited. When you are in the ring
it is all about your individual talent. I have always been
confident about my boxing skills and look forward to showing my
skills again. I love to compete. This team has a lot of talent.
I really like the team concept and it will be nice to root for
my teammates and have them root for me. Everyone on the team has
been so supportive and in a short time we have really bonded.
DS: When the season is over do you plan on
continuing your boxing journey?
AK: Yes. When my daughter was born I made a promise to her and
myself that I would become a World Champion again and I plan on
fulfilling that promise. I know I could do it. When I am in the
ring I feel I could beat anyone that steps in there against me.
DS: What weight class do you plan on being in?
AK: I might walk around a little heavier now since I became a
mother but I know I could take off the extra weight easy. I
could even fight at Flyweight again. It all depends on the
opportunity.
DS: What would you like to say to your fans? I know that
you have more fans than you think you do.
AK: I would like to thank all of the fans on social media
that have been so positive and supportive. I try to read all of
the posts and they really mean a lot to me.
DS: Well thank you for your time Ava and I wish you
continued success.
AK: Thank you David.
