(NOV 20) The Irish-born New Zealander Erin Walsh has arrived in professional boxing with a second-round stoppage over Thailand boxer Nantachat Wanpeng at ABA Stadium in Auckland.

On Friday evening, Peach Boxing put on another spectacular show, showcasing some of his best amateur and professional boxers from New Zealand. Two names in particular who will be entering the elite division next year are five-time New Zealand champion Omid Azizi and three-time New Zealand champion Sonny Moroni.

In the main event of the evening, Erin Walsh made her professional boxing debut against Thailand boxer Nantachat Wanpeng. Walsh has had an amazing amateur boxing background so far, representing New Zealand at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, becoming a three-time New Zealand national amateur champion, and has wins over Commonwealth Games medalists Troy Garton and Tina Rahimi.

Walsh proved that professional boxing suited her well as she dominated her opponent, sending her opponent down to the campus in the first round. Walsh did not waste time when she knocked her opponent down again in the second round, forcing the referee to waive off the fight, giving Walsh her debut win by TKO.

Walsh will head to the Solomon Islands next week to compete at the Pacific Games, hoping to qualify for the Olympics. Only the Gold Medalists at the Pacific Games will qualify for the Olympics, putting extra pressure on New Zealand boxers. From Peach Team, Amato Mataika will also compete at the Pacific Games as he represents Tonga.

Emma Nesbitt had her second professional boxing fight on the undercard against Thailand boxer Khwunchit Khunya. Nesbitt competes in various combat sports including Muay Thai Kickboxing, Jiu Jitsu, karate, Judo, wrestling, MMA, Amateur and Professional boxing.

Nesbitt was in full control throughout the fight, being the aggressor in all four rounds. There were a few moments where Khunya was about to go down, especially when she delivered powerful shots to the gut in the first and second rounds. Khunya toughed it out to reach the end of the fight, but it was clear that the New Zealander Nesbitt won all four rounds.

Peach Gym professional boxers will next be showcased on the December 2nd D&L Events Whangārei card, with Mea Motu defending her IBO World Super Bantamweight title against Indian boxer Chandni Mehra, Jerome Pampellone taking on Mexican World title contender Rogelio Medina Luna, Roseanna Cox having a trial with Peach boxing when she takes on Trish Vaka and Zain Adams continues his professional boxing journey against Patthaphi Camton. Also on the card, Lani Daniels is going for the vacant IBF World Light Heavyweight title against Desley Robinson.

Other results from the weekend: Lorraine Robson lost against Mariah Turner in Australia, Sale Oldehaver won by Unanimous decision over Tristan Allison in Tokoroa, and Nicholas Benn won by second-round TKO over Falcon Waerea in Tauranga.
