(APRIL 17) This last weekend there was some interesting and entertaining female bouts that took place worldwide. The following are some of those professional matchups that boxing fans either went to the event or were able to view the fights online.

On Saturday, April 15th, at the Hanger 9, at the Brooks City Base, in San Antonio, Texas, Carmen Vargas, of Houston, Texas, won a six-round unanimous decision over Melissa Holguin, of San Antonio, Texas.  In a social media comment on this fight they wrote the following:  "Our main event in this Texas lady shoot out for the ABF USA featherweight title was exactly as we thought it would be a highly competitive championship bout." The event was promoted by Pounder 4 Pound Entertainment, and matchmaker, Luey Villarreal.  Photo credits/Luey Villarreal.

In Argentina, at the Salón de los Bomberos Voluntarios, at the  General Villegas super lightweight Yamila Esther Reynoso,140, of Buenos Aires, Argentina won a ten-round unanimous decision over Sofia Rodriguez, 135¾, of Buenos Aires.  The two were fighting for the vacant South American Super Lightweight title.  Rodriguez received a standing count in the fourth round.  Final judges scores were 91-98, 91-98, and 89-99.

More Saturday's action, at the Club Cadetes de San Martín, Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires,  Argentina,  Romina Gisel Sosa, 109¼,  of Buenos Aires,  won a six-round unanimous decision over Camila Erica Avaca, 109½.  Final judges scores were 58-56, 58-56, and 58-56.

In Sono, Brno, Fabiana Bytyqi, 103, of Usti nad Labem, Czech Republic, won a ten-round unanimous decision over Elizabeth Lopez Corzo, 102½, Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico. The two were fighting for the WBC Atomweight title. Final judges scores were 92-98, 91-99, and 91-99.

In Higuey, Dominican Republic, in a six-rounder between Diana Collado, with a 15-37-0 record going into the fight against Jenna Gaglioti, with a 4-1-0 record.  Not real impressed with the huge difference in boxing experience, and the ultimate result was Gaglioti winning by a unanimous decision.  Just another questionable thought on this records site that BoxRec will not list certain fights of boxers with only their own opinion, where those boxers had much better records going into a fight, and yet they count this ridiculous fights that make it as sanctioned bouts... Makes no sense. Check out these crazy matchups that make it on the record.

At the Gimnasio Vertical El Dorado, Caracas, on the undercard with some newer female boxers on the scene as professionals,  Julimar Paez, 117½, of Venezuela, had a four-round split draw with Sara Suarez.  Paez's record is now 1-0-1. and Suarez is 2-0-1 (2KO). The final judges scores was 39-38, 38-38, and 37-39.

At the Altes Casino, Euskirchen, there were two female bouts on the card.  Farina Roemling, 136¾, of Cologne, Germany, won by a first round 1:38 seconds by KO over Sabine Hempel, 140¾, of Germany.  Hempel remains undefeated as a pro with now accumulating a 0-5-0 record.  The bout was scheduled for six rounds.  In a second female bout Milena Belimov won by a first round TKO over Lena Fenjacob, pro debut. The bout was scheduled for four rounds.

At the Copper Box Arena, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Hackney Wick,  last minute opponent change:  WBAN had received notice that Mikaela Mayer's opponent Christina Linardatou, was forced to withdraw after not meeting British Boxing Board of Control requirements. So there was about a one day notice that Lucy Wildheart stepped up to the plate to fight ten rounds with Mayer.  Mayer won a ten-round unanimous decision over last-minute opponent Lucy Wildheart. The two were fighting for a WBC Interim title.  The two were fighting for a WBC Interim title. Pre-fight story on WBAN..
