Quick Results Out of New York!  Five Female Bouts Featured on Card at Madison Square Garden
by Sue TL Fox
February 5, 2023

(FEB 5) Last night at the Madison Square Garden, in the Hulu Theatre, in New York, the boxing card featured five female bouts, with all fighting ten round championship bouts.

In the mainliner, Amanda "The Real Deal" Serrano, 125½, out of Brooklyn, New York, won by a ten-round unanimous decision over Erika Cruz, 125½, of Mexico City, Mexico. We do not have the final judges scores at this time. Serrano won the IBF, IBO, WBA, WBC, and WBO Featherweight titles. She already held four of them and added the WBA Belt. She improves her boxing record to 44-2-1 (30 KOs), and Cruz is now 15-2-0 (3KO).

In the co-main, Alycia Baumgardner, 129, of Detroit, Michigan, won by a ten-round unanimous decision over Elhem Mekhaled, 129, of Paris, France,  for the IBF, IBO, WBA, WBC, and WBO Super Featherweight titles.

In a third female bout, Skye Nicolson, 124¾, of Queensland, Australia, won a ten-round unanimous decision over Tania Alvarez, 125½, of Barcelona, Cataluña, Spain. Final judges scores were 98-92, 97-93, and 100-90. The two were fighting for the WBC Silver Featherweight title.

In a fourth bout, in another ten-round bout and to "keep your eye out on this boxer", Shadasia Green, 167½, of Patterson, New Jersey,  won by a 1:08 seconds, sixth round TKO over Elin Cederroos, 167¼, of Sweden. The two were fighting for the WBC Silver Super Middleweight title.

And lastly, Ramla Ali, 121½, of London, United Kingdom,  won a ten-round unanimous decision over Avril Mathie, of Miami, Florida but originally from Australia, 121½. Final judges scores were 99-91, 99-91, 99-91, and fighting for the IBF Inter-Continental super bantamweight title.

Rick Scharmberg said of the fight card last night, “Serrano-Cruz was a 10 round brawl and bloodbath. Baumgardner dropped Mekhaled twice early, but couldn't keep her down. Mekhaled got her pound of flesh in dropping the decision. Both fighters stood in the pocket and unloaded the rest of the way. Both took a lot of shots. DAZN did it again with a spectacular show.”

Great card and huge congrats to all the female boxers who boxed on this card in New York!
