(JUNE 7) The first fight was
a 2022 classic. Katie Taylor’s proposed rematch with Amanda
Serrano is not likely to happen soon, according to Eddie Hearn.
Matchroom head Hearn was one of two promoters alongside Jake
Paul when the pair fought in Madison Square Garden, New York, in
April earlier this year.

The match-up provided a classic in the biggest
fight in women’s boxing history and it looked set that the
Puerto Rican fighter would come to Croke Park in Ireland to run
it again in Taylor’s homecoming fight.
However Hearn does not think that Serrano wants
to fly to face Taylor across the Atlantic, and explained the
situation to Pro Boxing Fans.
“They don’t want that fight, unfortunately,” he
said. “I mean we’ve spoken to Jake Paul’s team. They don’t
really want to go to Ireland. They don’t really want the
rematch. And it’s kind of like, regardless of the offer, we
don’t want to do the rematch.”
Nevertheless, Hearn had not completely abandoned
hopes of a second fight.
“I think they want to go away and build some
confidence and get a win in August and maybe we can look at it
next year,” Hearn continued. “It’s very disappointing, because I
love that fight. I think it’s a great fight and such a close
fight. But yeah, it doesn’t look like it’s a fight that Amanda
Serrano wants.”
WBAN will check with the Serrano Team to see what their read is
on this rematch.
